“Perfect for public transportation”
Hotel is short walk from train station. Easy walk to Shukkeien Garden which is a gem. Easy and inexpensive tram ride to Peace Park. Three peop;e shared triple room on 12th floor and it was quiet. Small room by U.S. standards but more than adequate. I would go back!
“Really convenient hotel for JR travellers”
Hotel New Hiroden is really convenient for travellers to Hiroshima arriving at the main Japan Rail (JR) station. Our room was clean and comfortable and with wide beds, and we enjoyed the restaurant, although for a real taste of Hiroshima's local food you may wish to try one of the eating places in nearby downtown.
“Convenient, awesome views”
We booked a room with two double beds so had the unusual luxury of a vast sleeping area! We requested a quiet room and got a corner room at the hotel which overlooked the river in two directions - just magic. A separate study area with desk and a couch and armchair were bonuses in a country where affordable hotel rooms generally come very small. A great deal for us.
“Convenient, reasonalby priced Hiroshima hotel”
For the price you can't go wrong. Rooms are small, but comfortable. Convenient to Hiroshima JR station and trolley and bus center.
“Great Business Hotel But Average For Vacation”
Stayed 9 nights and liked the hotel overall. It is definitely more geared to business travelers. Beds were small and a bit uncomfortable. Road noise does come through the windows even from the 10th floor. Have to leave the key at the front desk every time you leave the building. Parking is very close and convenient but should be discounted through the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Note that there are very limited electrical outlets in the room and these are not near the bed tables. Bring a very long extension cord if you need bedside electrical devices. The hotel has very easy access to the Hiroshima train station (about 2 blocks).
“Hotel with a good location for the traveller.”
The hotel needs to eliminate the heavy smell of tobacco smoke in the corridors. The smoking habit is one of the few cultural changes Japanese males need to seriously think about or a non-smoking rule the hotel should strictly enforce. The air-conditioning was set at too warm a temperature making each nights sleep somewhat uncomfortable. My wife suffered from the excessive heat more than I. A single opening window did not allow for adequate flow through ventillation. The hotels location, a short 5 minute walk from Hiroshima train station and tram terminus makes the location ideal for the traveller. We had to leave Hiroshima on the first morning Shinkansen to Nagasaki, before the trams and buses were operating, so to only have a short stroll to the station was a real bonus. Staff were helpful though their English was limited, somewhat matching my limited Japanese. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel for family accommodation. It would be OK for the single traveller or smokers.
“Not impressed”
The room was very stuffy and too warm. Although it was February, the weather was at 60's, so the interiors of the hotel was uncomfortable. It was explained that during the winter the hotel shuts down the air conditioning so there was no way to get air circulating in your room. We tried to open the windows, but they were restricted to opening only a few inches. The hotel staff also did not have any portable fans. We could not sleep in the tiny rooms! The bedroom measured approx. 6 Ft across, there were inches between the two beds!
