"The ultimate Kyoto hotel."
We really enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Regency Kyoto - the hotel surpassed all of our expectations. Room sizes were very generous and the staff were exceptional, especially the new executive chef Ettien, who made our party feel very welcome and relaxed.

"A few days in Kyoto"
Kyoto was larger than expected with loads to see. Hotel is well placed for sightseeing. Combination of old and new buildings. Good eateries. We had a very traditional meal which we cooked in a charcoal grill set into the table. A bustling market was nearby.

"Lovely hostel with super nice staff"
The hostel is only 5 min walk from the famous Kyomizudera temple, and also very convenient to go to other places. The price is a bit high (~12,000 yen per night), but very reasonable given that it was the weekend before Obon festival and their service is way beyond my expectation. They even bring tea and snacks to your room every night, using delicate containers. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and there is a lovely backyard. The hostel is run by an old couple plus their son, and 2 cats. The staff are really really nice. The don't speak much English, but enough to get through the check-in process smoothly and answer some frequently asked questions. Breakfast is offered at the cost of 650 yen, and you can choose Western style or traditional Japanese style. Amazing food and beautiful display of food, really worth the money. Strongly recommend for anyone planning to visit Kyoto.

"Excellent position."
This Ryokan was in an excellent position, close to 4 main temples and beautiful cherry blossom lined streets. The Ryokan was very nice and the staff were good. Nice little touches.

"Futons in Kyoto"
A simple unit with everything you'd need for a short stay in Kyoto. Sit on the floor setup with low table works. Good kitchen, shower and sleeping setup. Great communication from the management via email beforehand on how to find the place and check yourself in and out. This different style of accommodation was a highlight of our trip.

    Higashiyama Hotels Guide

The shuffling of Geisha echoes in this quiet ward between the Kamo River and leafy Higashiyama Mountains. Arthur Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha takes place here in the Gion entertainment district. Visit during July for the Gion Festival. To the east, the high wooden stage of the Kyomizu temple floats above the canopy while traditional shops line the stone steps of Ninzaka and Sannzaka avenues below.
