“Good Hotel”
Enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Watford. The only complaint was that the beds are a little hard and when one person rolls over it disturbs their sleeping partner.
“Hilton Quality ( except in summer ! )”
Overall, very pleased with the hotel. Reception, very efficient and friendly, breakfasts and service in restaurant excellent, pool and gym, typical for hotel, but ok. Bedroom more than adequate, only complaint,is that at time of our visit, the weather was hot. With no air conditioning in bedroom, and only two small windows, the room and especially the bathroom, were far too warm. Although a small fan was provided, this only managed to blow the warm air around. Air conditioning is available in the public rooms, but not in the bedrooms. Nevertheless, I would certainly recommend the hotel, and would have no hesitation returning again, should the need arise.
“Handy stop for Harry Potter tour”
We stayed for one night as an overnight stop before visiting the Warner Bros. Making of Harry Potter studio tour, which is only about ten minutes drive away. This was our main reason for choosing this particular hotel. For this purpose the hotel provided good value, particularly the small cost to add on the full breakfast which was excellent. All the hotel staff were very friendly, although I rang during the day to enquire about late check-in as we would be arriving mid to late evening after visiting friends in Cambridge in the day en route to the hotel. The hotel number connected to an automated phone system and after choosing several menu options I was put through to what I believe was a customer service centre in America. After having to provide the last four digits of the card used to make the booking and the confirmation number, the customer service agent was rather unhelpful and I was unable to get a straight answer as to the latest time we would be able to check in. Fortunately when we arrived the staff on reception were very welcoming. We read comments online after having booked the hotel about noise problems in some of the rooms and were a little apprehensive before arrival. My girlfriend was woken once or twice during the night by noise on the corridor but I slept through, and overall not as bad a problem in our experience as many online reviews would have you believe. Overall, pleasant and good value.
“swimming pool staff attitude”
in general staff were good with the exception of swimming pool staff who i felt were rather rude my grand children were looking forward to swimming in the pool at about 12.30 pm on sunday as when booking we were told the facilites of the pool were available to us we were then told the pool was closed for private lessons ther were no notices to let us know that this was the case and the staff were quiet rude to my daughter with there response they seem to find it amusing as you can imagine the other grandfather was not amused by there response as he had spent a considerable sum of money onfood lodgings and drink for quite a large party i have no doubt you will here from him as it spoilt an othrwise enjoyable stay Regards .G .D,Stanhope
“Good hotel, brilliant breakfast, bathroom a bit dated, no free wifi”
You need a car for this hotel but I got a really good deal -- though they put me at the very back of the hotel which was a long walk to breakfast. The room was fine, not enough lighting for my taste and the bathroom showed its age a bit. Having just spent a fortnight in Spain in 3* hotels all with free wifi, it was a bit disconcerting that there was only wired internet in the room (no good for the iPhone) and wifi in only some parts of the hotel -- and you had to pay a minor fortune for it. (I declined.) Was annoyed that I had forgotten a swimsuit so wasn't able to test the swimming pool. I'd go back again if it was as good a deal as I got this time. Wouldn't pay the normal price though.
“Great Place to Stay.”
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Room service was quick, the food was excellant and and piping hot. Hotel was very clean throughout. Would stay there longer than one night. I think this hotel would serve the business traveller well as this not in a tourist area.
“moyen”
it was good but reception was no good
“just what we wanted”
we were at a wedding nearby and this was just what we wanted, easy access from the m1(you would have to try really hard to get lost) great breakfast=buffet style every taste catered for just what the doctor ordered after a night of celebration" could only get a room via expedia and pay for breakfast as an extra =think it worked out dearer, try for b&b when booking
“Distinctly OK”
Don't let the Hilton name trick you into thinking you'll be staying in mega luxury. This place is a few notches up from a travelodge but was nothing special. Staff were excellent though, very helpful. Still don't understand why most deals don't include breakfast though. There is a petrol station just down the road if you a Ginsters to get you going.
“Fantastic service but room could do with a lick of paint”
Hiltons are always reliable as a good place to stay, and this hotel is no exception. The service was superb, especially the restaurant staff who went out of their way to help and be friendly. When my room service meal was late, I was given an apology and a free meal, without even having to raise it, and the reception staff also helped when I asked to extend my stay. The only negative aspect was the condition of the room, which while comfortable enough, could do with new wall paper and a lick of paint. Having said that, I would happily stay there again, given the reasonable rate and the excellent service.
