“Plan to go back”
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the room was small but cozy, the breakfast was delicious. Leppavaara train station is withing walking distance from the hotel and a commuter train will take you to the downtown Helsinki in 15-20 min. If I ever come back to Helsinki, this will be my place to stay!
“Can't wait for the new Stayat in Norway and Denmark !”
This hotel provided an apartment that ticked all the boxes for my wife and I. We got more than we expected in the aparment and found the self caterering facilities provided for all our requirements. Everything was clean, tidy and in full working order. The breakfast, continental style, did become a little boring and could be improved by the addition of a few English ingrediants like bacon, sausage and fried eggs, if not every day then sa perhaps two or three times a week. That would just add that little extra. The staff spoke excellent English and were always helpful and informative. I can recomend Stayat Hotels to anyone contemplating a self catering holiday.
“Comfortable and a good alternative to city centre hotels”
A good alternative to Helsinki city centre hotels if you do not have to be in the city. If you are an overseas visitor, you will probably need to rely on taxis to get you to and from the hotel. If you have a car the ring road is close by.
“Good inside, bad outside”
The room is very nice, cosy finnish definition with red curtains and a big TV-plate. On the other hand, no restaurant, the breakfast was not rich, the room never clined.
“Good place to stay, free internet, very good for weekend included trips”
The hotel is located near the train station and a big shopping center(named Sello), and it is relatively easy to get to it (but you need a map to find the right track since it is hidden behind a hill and buildings). With the train you make 20 minutes to downtown Helsinki for around 3.80 euros. The room is not too large, but it did not bother me. I had free breakfast with quite good options to choose from. In the room you also get a refrigerator, and all you need for a kitchen (sink, oven, forks, microwave etc). The internet is free and works very well. As TV channels you have CNN, BBC and some other finnish based ones that most of the time are in english (and only subtitles in finnish). In the weekend the hotel price was much cheaper than in the weekdays.
“The Pluses and the minuses”
We stayed in a 2 room suite, which had a sitting room which contained the third single bed, but the room was very spacious, with kitchenette which contained dining table for 4, a full size fridge, sink, cupboards and small oven. The bathroom had a sauna, however the sauna took 5 hours to heat up, the toilet was separate from the bathroom, adjacent was another spacious double bedroom. However, we paid alot of money for this hotel, I feel this is too much money for this hotel, some people were talking in the next room and it sounded like they were in our room, also it was extremely difficult to find,we spent 4 hours trying to find this hotel. The other challenge was there were alot of steps upto the main entrance of the hotel, and getting the luggage in was a stuggle, we had to go through the restaurant entrance to get a lift, from that lift we had to wheel are luggage to another lift to get to the reception. There is no nice view from the front of the hotel just buildings but from our room we had trees to look at. The breakfast was very poor, however we did have dinner in the restaurant, and they were extremely kind and helpful and the food we had was really good. If you want to stay in Helsinki and you have children, or special dietary needs and want to cook your own food and be in a convenient location it is a good choice. Whilst I gave this hotel an overall rating of 2, in terms of comfort of the room I gave it a 5, as I did feel very relaxed and at home.
