“Characterful and friendly, good food too”

This was our first visit to Hay and the Swan and we were very impressed. The hotel must have its origins as an old coaching inn and the whole scale of the place is magnificent. Our room was fine and quiet. The dinner in the Bistro was excellent , as was the breakfast with a good range of cereals and fruits and a delicious cooked selection. We rated it all very highly and will be back.

“Very nice but try to get a larger room”

Super location, good looking hotel, most helpful and pleasant staff, but miniature double bedroom that gave me claustrophobia - had to leave window open to survive. Yes - I'd recommend it on all counts, but avoid room 10.

“a little friendly criticism.”

I was assured that this was a comfortable hotel. Whilst the public rooms were fine, our bedroom was disappointing. The bathroom requires updating and I had trouble with the electric shower which was slow. The water from the hot tap was very hot and possibly could have burned a child. The room was quite dark and required artificial light in daytime. Our bed was not comfortable, however, our relatives who occupied the room above praised the quality of their bed. Breakfast was fine and dinner was good, although a little pricey. The staff were excellent though.
