“Our favorite”
The Lodge is very nice and as we expected. We were very pleased with the setting and the accommodations in every way. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a night or two at the volcano while on the Big Island. This was our 4th stay there and we love it.
“I am impressed!”
This hotel is actually a house, decorated by stuff from middle ages, such as the old style telephone, piano, etc. Every thing there is so elegant, from the board game, to the cute cards that show the room name at the door of each room. It is surrounded by the rain forest, so without doubt, the environment is perfect. Apparently, this house is not built for the purpose of being a hotel at the beginning, as all the furnitures and facilities are in excellent quality, even better than the one we have in our own home. There is a big living room in the house, where you can find most of the middle ages stuff. This living room is shared by all guests stayed in the lodge. Hotel rooms are actually rooms in the house. Each one has its own bathroom and door through which you can directly go outside of the house without going through the living room. I am so impressed, and will definitely go back!
“Great Location near Volcano National Park!”
The Lokahi Lodge was just awesome! We were just a few minutes away from Volcano National Park and lots of restaurants. The hotel is eco-friendly, very clean and had all the amenities we were looking for. The lodge itself has a huge kitchen and gathering room with table games set up for your use. There's also a hot tub right outside the lodge...
“Good option in Volcano”
Overall my husband and I were very impressed with our room in the Lokahi Lodge. We had a private bathroom and our own private entrance into the room. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was satellite TV too. It is a house, so there is a common living room and kitchen for your use. The living room has a large assortment of books, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need for your meal (except the food, of course). My only complaint is that the room smelled very musty or moldy. There is no form of air circulation (i.e. no fans or air conditioning). Since it was very cool at night, we were able to keep the window open which helped a little.
“Best of both worlds”
We rarely take the time to thank managers, but we did so for the Lokahi Lodge. The upstairs suite was lovely. We really enjoyed this unique accomodation - an independent B & B. The managers were not on site but available by phone at a nearby lodge. Staff arrived to fix a satisfying breakfast. The communal living area provided a sense of space and a homey atmosphere without feeling like we were intruding in someone's living space. We gladly recommend your hospitality. “Very Satisfied”
The place we stayed in is more like a B&B. The noise from the dehumitifier bothered us as well as the very hard bed mattress. We were okay with that since we only stayed one night, but would recommend asking for a softer mattress. Otherwise, the room was very clean and comfortable. It was also very quiet which made it nice to sit outside the room with a drink.
“great with friends”
I would love to rent out more than one room in the Lodge with a group of friends, but it was still a very nice stay with just the two of us. A very quaint, quiet place that is very fitting for the surrounding Volcano area. I would definitely go back.
“An acceptable compromise”
Checkin at the nearby office went smoothly and the lodge's common areas were pleasant and well outfitted; however, our room smelled dank and as if there had just been liberal application of some sort of bug killer. A small portable dehumidifier had been put in the room to make it more tolerable, but we had to air out the room completely for a few hours before we could use it - which made it very, very cold when we were ready to go to bed. Still, we would recommend staying here if proximity to Volcano is important and you are looking for a reasonable price.
“no aircondition”
volcano village is on 3000 feet above sea level. the temperature is nice and cool - but - the humidity is very high. because of a missing aircondition the rooms smells little moldy (same must in volacano house experienced). you can hear your room neighbor in everything he does... better you get up earlier than him :-)
