“Great vacation”

The hotel was a perfect location with a snorkeling beach next door and a short drive to town. The service for very good. The turtles were in the lagoon to be seen at the end of the hotel as promised. We will return.

“Enjoyed our stay.”

The hotel is centrally located on the western side of the island within walking disstance of Kona. The grounds were well kept and the staff were pleasant and accomodating. The breakfast buffet was included in ou package and well worth the cost. We would certainly use this hotel for future visits.

“Excellent hotel”

We were very pleased with this hotel. It had been recommended by family members who had stayed there in the past. The included breakfast was excellent as was the snorkling beach right next door. The room was clean and all employees were very friendly.

“Wish We Were Still There”

The hotel was in the best location on the island for us. The room and the view was outstanding. Each day we would explore part of the island, and come back to a great happy hour, and watch the sunset from the best location on the island. One of our best weeks ever. Kudos to the friendly staff as well.

“If we go back, we will stay here”

This hotel has to be the best in location, beauty, cleaniness, and value. We knew it was nice but after seeing other hotels in Kona, this is one of the nicer places for the price. The snorkeling was fantastic, just outside the hotel. Tip: If you stay here and take one of the snorkeling tours, they bring you right back to this sight. Don't waste your money because there are plenty of fish and turtles to see right at the hotel. Had a small problem with the room when we checked in but they sent up the maintenance person and within a half hour it was fixed. Great view outside our room. Only problem was we couldn't enjoy it because there were two smokers next to us and smoked us out of our balcony every morning and evening. Found out later, this isn't allowed and we should have complained to the front desk. Great breakfast and the best sunsets on the island right at the hotel.

“Get the Ocean-side Rooms!”

The five stars I'm giving the Keauhou Beach Resort is for the *second* room we had -- which was an ocean-side room on the third floor. Our first room (which we stayed in for one night) mostly overlooked the hotel roof. It was comfortable and clean, but we were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and wanted something special. The morning after that first night, we asked the nice folks at the front desk if we could move to one of the ocean-side rooms with a balcony that actually leans over the bay. They had one on the same floor, available for an additional fee. It was the best money we ever spent! When I say that this was probably the best hotel room we have *ever* had, I'm not overstating the facts. We spent hours on our balcony, enjoying the amazing view from our new (and bigger--it even had two sliding glass doors to let the breeze in, not just one) room. The water below was crystal clear, and was like our own personal aquarium, filled with sea turtles and gorgeously colored fish. We enjoyed every minute. The sunsets were especially fantastic. At night we left the sliding doors open (screens closed) and slept to the sound of the waves. Amazing. Finally, the breakfast buffet served each morning, which was part of our room rate, was delicious and filling, and you couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting. The verandah bar also serves good food and a mean mai tai, and shares the same "over the bay" view that our room had.

“Snorkel right there”

The Outrigger was a great hotel. We had been there 2 years ago and the included breakfast then was fantastic, but it was still sufficient, although quite repetitive. The location is fantastic, especially for snorkeling. The hotel has many authentic Hawaiian Cultural Items and events. The grounds are beautiful and very clean. Our only issue was the small bathroom and we would try to upgrade next time to get a larger shower area. Upgraded rooms have a fantastic view right into the tide pools from balconies. Oceanfront rooms had a great view of the whales. The pool area wasn't much, but sufficient ; there is just so much to do in the area. We definitely would recommend the Outrigger.

“Perfect location!”

Our room faced the bay, so we had wonderful views of dawn over the mountain, the first surf-boarders at daybreak, snorkelers all day long, and the evening glow on the water. The breakfast buffet on the lanai was a beautiful way to start the day. We could walk to the archeological site and to the bay for great snorkeling and turtle watching. The Expedia-provided concierge (Rebecca) was absolutely the best for recommending sights and activities all around the island. Rebecca ROCKS!

“Great for families, and couples - everyone in fact”

Great staff, rooms with even partial ocean views have great views all round. Bar great, music great, food in morning VERY good, bar food above average, dinner middling to good. VERY good concierge service, staff always helpful. Location is wonderful. Gardens are nice, pool smallish, but with the ocean and the BEST snorkel beach in HI 1 minute away who cares....!!! Views from open terraces fantastic. Tropical fish easy to see at night, sea turtles amazing, kids will love them. Sunset views. Close to food/beaches/excellent markets (Ali'i open air market) , close to Kailua and airport. Will go back here again.... DEFINITELY! Only four little gripes [1] The AC in rooms is GREAT, BUT: it is not possible to set the temperature you like... its just low, medium, high - they should add new controllers. But the AC IS quiet...... [2] Just 200yards away there is some new construction, a little noise between 8am and 5pm, but not at weekends. They are finishing according to locals. [3] My family loved it and the vacation was too short ;) [4] They need a room with PCs and a printer for printing boarding passes and the like.
