    “Great time”

    Had two problems in bathroom and both were fixed within minutes. Clean facilities, fantastic view, helpful staff.

    “Nice Hotel food service very.very very SLOW”

    Nice hotel, super location but the food service is terrible, always had to wait forever , one time had to go find my server to pay the tab after waiting over 30 minutes . I saw guests set up there own tables, walk out and just unhappy .

    “Enjoy the stay”

    We enjoyed the stay very much. The location is a little off the most busy area, wihich was what we preferred. Access to the center is still easy and quck. The neighourhood is very relaxing with great ocean views from the room.

    “Can't wait to go back. The location is wonderful. We could walk out and snorkel in Kahalu'u Bay”

    Immediate access to outstanding snorkeling, lot of fish, many turtles very close to shore. Staff were wonderful. The Expedia representative, Shannon, was terrific, very helpful. She recommended the Manta Ray snorkel and it was out of this world.

    “Nice place to stay, bar/restaurant service lacking”

    We really enjoyed our stay- great room view, clean room, and very helpful front desk. We had asked for more pillows and our shower drain became clogged- they took care of both issues within 10 minutes. My only gripe was the bar service- both times we went service was incredibly slow (not busy either time) and we had to go track people down to get water or anything to wash down our food. The rest of our experience was great, and the view from the bar was awesome- just don't expect much.

    Go north into the tourist part of Kona- great food and fun little shops. Jackie Rey's and Bongo Ben's were both great dinners.

    “On the beach!”

    I don't know why this hotel was rated a "3" by other guests. Have been to Hawaii many times and found this hotel to be as good or better than other places we have stayed. Granted the rooms could use a little updating, but other than that we loved it here. First of all it is right next to the best snokling beach on the island. Safe enough for little ones,exciting enough for experienced people - and did I mention the sea turtles that hang out here? They have a great complimentary breakfast ( I would even pay to eat there every day!) there are ancient temples that are being restored & lots of authentic Hawaiian classes every day. Keouhou isn't as lively as staying in Kona but we like it that way. This is homebase from now on.

    “beautiful landscaping around the resort, very good view of the ocean, rather relaxing environment...”

    I found the resort to be quite an attractive and appealing setting - beautiful landscaping, open and pleasantly decorated environment, the staff were friendly and accommodating and polite, and the breakfast served every morning was fresh, good variety and healthy choices mostly. We enjoyed the experience of seeing a couple of green sea turtles, large variety of fishes in the water, and the waters were clean and refreshing. The beach area was a little small but adequate to accommodate the crowd. The only thing was in the way of location, it was not close to any of the major attractions. The farmers market and some local markets were close by however. THe one downside was the cost of the room - I thought that paying $65.00 more per night for the third person was a little too high.

    Don't know much about the Big Island. This was our first visit. Somehow we get the feeling that being closer to the Hilo area would have been more beneficial.

    “We felt like 'ohana!”

    The staff at Keauhou were amazing...we were there for 2 weeks and made friends with just about everyone who worked there! The staff was friendly and treated us like family. Pua, Francine, Rose and Robert at the front desk were the best welcome after a day in the hot, Hawaiian sun! Rolina, who ran all of the cultural activities, was a wealth of knowledge and truly made our trip one of a kind! Malia and Penny at the breakfast buffet made us look forward to getting up in the morning just to see them and Gladys from housekeeping always gave us a warm welcome (and some extra Kona coffee)!. My husband and I LOVE history and you can't beat the Keauhou for that! There are a bunch of heiaus (pre-christian temples) and you're essentially staying on Royal Grounds! It's amazing and you completely feel the aloha spirit! We will always stay here...until we live in Kona permanently!

    “We'd stay here again!”

    This was a great experience! The hotel is reasonably priced with modest, but clean, quiet rooms. The hot breakfast was very good by most hotel standards and the staff were friendly and wanted to please us any way they could. The beach was directly next door - a 2 min walk and was clean, not too crowded and had a life guard. Snorkeling was not like the BVI - less coral - but many fish and lots of sea turtles. On Wed, there is a farmer's market in the parking lot, so you can load up on Kona coffee and other handmade articles. It was especially helpful to have an Expedia Local Knowledge Expert on site days and evenings at the hotel. They booked all our trips and had great advice.     Be sure to take a night Manta snorkel/dive trip. We dove with a boat recommended by the Expedia Local Guide - it was an awsome experience. One tank, 40' stationary on the bottom, ~45" of bottom time. A safe beginner night dive. Eight mantas two inches from the camera - 15' "wing" span. Our daughter open-water snorkeled with the dolphins - great experience and great pictures. The coffee plantation tours (free) are worth the time. You learn/see alot and they dispel myths - darker is not stronger:)
