""High class""
Walking in the hotel, the place looks luxurious. The staff is accommodating. I didn't like that there is no continental breakfast along with no mini fridge. So it's like pay $9 for yogurt and a banana, $12 (or was it $14?) to add an omelette, or nothing because you can't buy it and put it in a fridge because conveniently there is no fridge. Even cheaper hotels have both! Also, and this was a little disturbing, they gave us free bottles of water where the seal was already broken and the water smelled just like the tap! I thought it was funny but my husband did not. I do have to say, though that they have the best gym out of the three I stayed in last week!

"Great view"
Hotel had old mahogany charm in the lobby but with thoroughly clean and modern rooms....not sure how old it is but seemed quite new. We had a corner room looking at the river and dry-dock shipyards, and the naval museum the other way. Very nice hotel.

"Give Wyndham a chance!"
Wyndham has only had this hotel under its banner for about one month. Previously, it was not part of any chain. This likely explains any negatives we had, e.g., no large lit signage (arriving at night, we drove right by it!), dark-ish lobbies, e.g., main lobby, elevator lobby, due to intended dark lighting and dark wallpaper. The parking lot requires walking up approximately a 30-step staircase. Anyone mobility-impaired would have to walk around to the front of the building to access the long, curving ramp to reach the lobby level.

"Good location, staff and facility"
We travel from NYC a couple of times a year for my husband's medical specialist at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Since we stay several days, I thought an extended stay hotel would give us a little more comfort. Residence Inn, Downtown Norfolk was conveniently located to restaurants and visitors' attractions. Since my husband can't walk very far, this was a good choice. The night we arrived, we took the light rail from the Amtrak station. One block from the hotel, my husband fell and had trouble standing again. Some neighborly people assisted us, 3 stayed with my husband while I went to check us in and get some more help. The registrar quickly performed the registration and the offered me a wheel chair after I explained the situation. He took my bags so I could return to get my husband, who with help was starting to walk up the street. After seating my husband in the chair, one one the gentleman, brought my husband's bags to the hotel. The registrar, asked if he should have the bags delivered for us and if there was anything else we needed. I said "maybe a few band aids, which were promptly given. The episode speaks well for the hotel and the caring nature of people passing by. Overall, the stay was very comfortable. Buffet breakfast and Wi Fi are included in the room price.

"Business Traveler, Great View"
I love the view in the room. Hotel staff is always friendly. Bar/restaurant and free wifi downstairs with live music some nights creates a great atmosphere for a business traveler.

"Paradise Found!!"
My husband and I decided to look for a room but not we wanted something different. It was Valentines Day and we wanted something special. After reading the information about the house and the innkeeper, we decided to give it a try. I can't say one negative thing about this beautiful house. Every luxury we wanted was at our fingertips The bed was firm but in a comfortable way. The breakfast the next morning hearty and delicious. We enjoyed a fine conversation with the other guests. I have to say the one thing that made my stay the most memorable was JACK. Ask the innkeeper when you speak to her. He was awesome! We will be back!

"Good for a Short Stay"
I stayed here for a night while attending a concert. It was within walking distance. The hotel is located in Old Towne near some decent bars. The hotel is dated. The room was clean but could use updating. There was a rip in the desk chair, some left over "substance" on the desk and a couple non-working lamps. The place was OK for the night but not for a long stay.

"Old and worn but not bad"
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean, but worn (burn holes in bedspread, scuff marks on walls and doors, broken drawers in dressers, etc.) In a rough neighborhood, but staff do an excellent job keeping the facility/ parking lot safe. Another nearby hotel was much scarier on a recent stay. Breakfast buffet was goof for the price (danish, muffins, yogurt, waffles). Not a bad choice if you need to be right in Posrtmouth.
