One night stay was awesome. Staff was friendly and helpful, especially May who had good English. Breakfast was good though the rice was abit oily. Overall a good stay here and would definitely come back again.

This hotel is in a very good location, close to Hoan Kiem Lake, the Old Quarter, restaurants, laundry services and convenience stores. The receptionists speak English well, but the other staff does not. This hotel is very worn and could use a good coat of paint. The hallways are extremely narrow and no lights were turned on in the halls in the evenings until we requested it. The second night, I turned the lights on myself. Our hotel room was comfortable enough but was very small, unlike online photos; we had difficulty finding room for two suitcases. The shower was enclosed and was the nicest we have had in Vietnam. Bottled water was only provided on the first day, unlike other hotels. Breakfast was adequate and included your choice of eggs cooked to order, soup, or pancakes (crepes). Other items available were not as varied as at other hotels. We were taking our laundry to a service when the receptionist said that the hotel could do it for us. We agreed, but discovered the price was four times as high as could be found anywhere in the neighborhood. Overall, we were shocked at the excellent rating this hotel has received from past "guests". We changed from a bit more expensive hotel with the same star rating to this one due to its glowing reviews, to save money, and due to it's better location, but were disappointed we had done so. Our first hotel was much better than this one and did not cost much more. We would not recommend this hotel overall.

A Totally Good Experience
We stayed a total of 6 nights out of 10 nights in the North. We can'say enough good things about our stay. The staff was fabulous. Su arranged our trips to Nimh Binh, Halong Bay and Sapa. When my wife had a dental emergency Su got us an appointment and went with us to the clinic. Su, Peter, Max and Tuan treated us like family. Breakfasts were excellent! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Ask for a room with a window
Good value and clean. Great friendly staff. Bathroom very small , no window in bedroom except onto passageway. Also passageway window had no curtain so your room stays light as long as the passage lights are on. Maybe ask for a room with an outside window.

Perfect for a couple of nights
We chose this as the reviews were very good, and also as we were meeting up with daughter/son-in-law, we knew they'd choose to stay here - made life easier for getting together. It's great if you don't mind a hard bed. (Although to be fair, most of Vietnam had harder beds than we like!) As for the service, I cannot fault them. They were exemplary. We organised our Ha Long Bay trip through them, which was perfect and about the price you'd pay anywhere. We also got them to organise our train ticket, for our trip down to Hue. Much easier than trying to organise it ourselves! We could not have asked for a better service. They were friendly, helpful and their English was very good. Also, their laundry was pretty good value too. The breakfasts were simple but ideal for a start to the day, with a choice of some western styles as well as typical Vietnamese Pho. All in all I would recommend, it's the ideal location for the old quarter. However, if you're not on a tight budget and you want more frills or perhaps more comfort, then perhaps it's not the place for you.

The staff make this hotel excellent
We picked this hotel judging from the good price and reviews and were not disappointed. The facilities are basic and small but everything is kept very clean and tidy. The location is right in the centre of the old quarter and only 5 in walk from the lake. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. It was our favourite hotel of our trip.

We had the best service from mister Tony, miss Anna and miss Emma ! Great location in the center and near the bus station to go to SaPa and Hue. The only thing is that the rooms have water infiltration when it rains ... So mold is present. Not that bad because I still recommend it strongly the service is just too good for the price !

Good location, clean, but impossible to sleep
This hotel was very nice and clean, but the mattress was terrible - sleeping on the wooden floor may have been softer. Also, we had a room at the front which meant that there is non-stop motorcycle noise at all times of the day and night.

This hotel is very nice and clean, good breakfast. Only problems we encountered was very weak wifi, extremely hard bed (even for asia), and a lot of street noise because our room faced the front street.

Disappointing on everything except for staff.
Selection of food for breakfast was very poor. Beds were like rocks. lower grade rooms had no windows and were very damp and walls covered in mildew. Higher grade rooms had terrible view and beds were so so uncomfortable. Place was very noisy. Location was fairly good, but not worth the discomfort of the extremely hard beds.

Good location north of the lake, lots going on nearby. Arrived twice on overnight train, before 6am the metal shutter is down but once open the staff were very helpful and often gave us a room to rest in while ours was prepared. The rooms do have a bit of mould on walls due to condensation but its only a minor issue

Fantastic staff, great location
I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a budget place to stay in Hanoi. The hotel has a great location in the old quarter. For what you pay, the room is great, spacious, clean, with good facilities. The breakfast is simple but great. The staff here were so attentive it was really refreshing! Everyone was super helpful, even before I got there, organising an airport collection, they got straight back to me. Cannot fault them, so friendly & helpful, they even walked me to the bus stop with my luggage when I was leaving. They also had great options for tours. If I'm ever back in Hanoi I will stay here again for sure!

Stay was great. Excellent location, walking distance to old quarter and hoan kiem lake. Gave us excellent map of area too. Staff were incredibly friendly, and although we didn't use the tour desk, they weren't too pushy, and we have heard some horror stories about Hanoi Hostels being really difficult if you don't book with them. Hotel room was pretty clean, although our shower leaked a bit on the last day due to condensation.

The hotel is good in general. The hotel is very good, clean enough, and an amazing service. Tony is the manager, and he will help you in anything that you need, from info of the city to booking tours to Ha Long Bay. Breakfast ok, and the only problem is the beds are no too comfortable. After Ha Long, we came back to here for one more night. I recommend it.

Me and my Wife stayed here for 4 nights & It was a very satisfying experience at B & B Hanoi hostel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, Breakfast spread has a lot of options to choose from and is very tasty. The Staff here is one of the most friendly and sweet that i have ever come across. Emma is a sweetheart and goes out of her way to make sure you are always comfortable and Tony is your man Friday with a permanent smile on his face. we booked a halong bay cruise through them which was above our expectations. I would highly recommend B & B Hanoi hostel

I was in room 601. On arrival I was advised that I had been upgraded from a standard room. I am not sure this was correct though as all the rooms seemed to be of the same standard. My room was very nice (the bathroom smelt at times due to no ventilation). The staff could not have been more helpful. I arranged a tour to Sapa & Halong Bay through them as time was short & I didn't want to walk around the many tour operators. I'm not sure of the price comparison. I did see that a tour operator offered a pick up taxi from the airport for $11, whereas B&B charge $18. When I returned from Sapa (at 4.30am!), there was a member of staff waiting for me at the train station to take me back to the hotel. I was then going to Halong Bay at 8.30am, so they offered me a lay down & gave me breakfast from 7am. The hotel arranged for my trip to Halong Bay to be upgraded due to the weather & cancellation of boats the previous 2 days. I ended up on a very nice boat for no extra cost! :) On my return from Halong Bay, the hotel had prepared me a packed lunch due to my later than normal arrival & I had a bus journey to Hue within the next hour. On speaking to other travellers, it seems that you get this kind of service from most of the hotels in Hanoi, so whichever hotel you choose, have a good trip! :)

The hotel is very centrally located. It's a few minutes walk to the lake, and all around it are shopping streets and the old quarter. The staff are very friendly. Lots of information about tours and booking tickets for Halong Bay and Sapa as well as other parts of Vietnam. Good honest information. Also about Hanoi, of course. Breakfast appears very quickly and is as you would expect. I stayed in two different rooms on the second floor. Neither had an outside window which didn't bother me but would have bothered some other people. One room had a weird window to the hallway which was actually disturbing as the light from the hallway shined in at night. The size of both rooms was fine for me, but the beds are just very hard. I did not mind so much, but they're not exactly comfortable. The aircon was great to have as the rooms can get a bit stuffy. No fan. The bathroom is nice in that there is a shower stall and the water does not get all over the bathroom. The bathrooms though do smell a bit musty/moldy and thee is mold in the corners in the shower. Again, nothing overwhelming but it may bother some people. Note that it is on a busy street so you may want to have a room not facing the street - the symphony of horns is extremely annoying.

An enjoyable experience
We ended up staying in B&B Hanoi Hostel for longer than we originally intended. The rooms were nice and pretty modern. The staff themselves were friendly and helpful, we even booked a trip to Halong Bay with them too. Overall you get good quality for what you're paying.

Great Value, Wonderful Staff
The newly remodeled B&B Hanoi Hostel is a great value. The rooms are nice, quieter ones at the back with two beds. The staff is super helpful and its right around the corner from the lake, great restaurants and shopping. It's under new management since November, so old reviews are not accurate.

So much noise!!! I ask at the front desk arpund 6pm but nothing change. A bar or a disco all night until 3am. My ears plug wasnt enough. Would ask for a refund if I weren't press to go at the airport. Very not happy about this night.

Friendly staff in hostel at great location
We were very happy with this hostel. The staff is very friendly and tries to help you with any request in every possible way. Also they speak English well. The trip to Ha Long Bay we booked via the hostel turned out to be a great fit for us. While booking we also had the feeling that the manager really listened to our wishes and helped us book the best tour for us. By the way, the location is in the Old Quarter and very central. You can explore most of the city on foot. We would definetely stay there again.

Alles gut soweit, sehr bemuehter Staff, Fruehstueck ok, Duschen hervorragend, nur die Betten sind wahnsinnig hart, wer hier nicht hart im Nehmen ist, sollte das Hostel nicht buchen.

Chambre spacieuse et confortable
Hôtel très bien situé. Très bien accueillis, nous y avons passé une semaine agréable : chambre spacieuse et propre, lits confortables, ménage fait tous les jours, petit-déjeuner correct mais service un peu lent.

离还剑湖的船型屋很近，周边很多吃的地方，走过时看到都想吃。但房间有点小，空调滴水，内部设施很一般。
