Very friendly welcome. Bedroom and bed were very comfortable although bedside light did not work. Bathroom toiletries did not include shower gel! Food as usual was superb and I had a great meal with friends

Lovely pub, just a shame the owner has left it to be run by his elderly parent's who are trying to make it work, in our room we had a broken toilet seat and a wardrobe full of the the owners mother and feathers clothes, wasn’t the best Experience, can’t fault the food tho. Open when is it open

Great walking area and resting spot
Lovely stay in a nice out of the way spot with some excellent walking in the area. Super garden to enjoy an outdoor meal if you were just stopping for a short term lunch lets say. Extremely well catered for throughout our stay. Very good evening meal and though we did not partake of the great looking pies and sausage rolls for sale in the bar at lunchtime, it was a loss to us I think. Our only reservation was that we did not stay in the room which we had booked but other than that I would recommend a break at this little spot.

Lovely stay
Great stay, very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely location and lovely room. Room could definitely do with a lick of paint on one wall and a new bedframe and the chef could probably do with a helper for breakfasts. But hope to stay again

Marvellous! The true meaning of Inn!

We had a lovely night at the Hawkley Inn. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The food is better and more interesting than the menu may suggest (ie it is great rather than just very good). Hawkley is a nice area and we had a lovely walk directly from the Inn.

The countryside isn't all bad
The food was terrific. English breakfast fans will love it, and the evening menu is superb. When in Rome, eat game. Rabbit and pheasant feature , and venison bits and bobs if you count that as game. The staff were great, attentive, polite, busy in a good way. The locals are nice enough - there is no minute's silence when strangers approach, so it's nothing like rural pubs in Yorkshire. The beer is splendid. I tried several just to make sure. The wine list is also good, although I tend towards lower ABV wines these days and there's no reds below 13%. The countryside is lovely and I plan to visit again in the summer, perhaps to while away a day at the cricket club, which has one of the best views outside of any cricket ground in Lancashire. The landlord and landlady are a terrific team running a very nice boozer / B&B. I understand it's up for sale. The next people will need to be very sharp to be half as good.
