“Location, Location, Location!!”

I can't say enough about the hotel! Everyone was very nice and helpful. It didn't matter what you needed, the hotel staff was eager to help. They would make reservations for you to any diner, show, ride to airport. The room was very clean and you get the "old world" feel. This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and whenever I'm in Halifax there's no question I would stay again. They are centrally located so you can pretty much walk to anywhere you want to go. Room service was fast and believe it or not the food was very good. I will always stay faithfull to the Lord Nelson!!

Area recommendations
Spring Garden Road! Everything you need is right there at your finger tips. Several places to eat, shop, and a Starbucks on each end which was a big plus for me. There was a guy doing a back to school special little road side cook by the library that had the best fish and chips and great prices!
Getting around
Walking is the best. Everything is very close and by the time you paid for parking and found a spot to park you could have been there on foot. I rented a car and ended up taking it back because I never used it. The limosine service from the Hotel to the Airport was great. Much better then taking the shuttle and not that much more money. It does cost to park at the hotel and for what you save in parking fees take the limo! Well worth it.

“Lovely hotel with great customer service”

Lord Nelson was conveniently located in the downtown Halifax core with a short walk to the harbour. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and our suite was spacious and the bed was luxurious. Would definitely stay there the next time I visit Halifax.

“Always reliable. Good people.”

Always can rely on the room being clean and the staff being friendly and helpful. Pub is very nice. Always other events on there, weddings, parties, conferences, but it never interferes with their general hotel operation. Negatives; 1. no vault in room 2. no mini bar (actually, could be considered an asset) 3. very poor breakfast They should really do something about number 3. I had to go out to either Tims, Smitty's or this great egg place on the next block, which is ok but would be nicer to have breakfast in the hotel.

Area recommendations
Hotel pub is good 5 Fishermen for oysters and seafood chowder Press Gang for great meal and light jazz, great atmosphere, pricey Tried Le Coque Bistro this time - very good, reasonable, very attentive all within walking distance Drove to Lunenburg and Mahon Bay - gorgeous little typical waterfront towns from 100-200 years ago. Picturesque is too tame a word. Tip - rent a car at the airport as it costs the same as there and back in a taxi.

“A very pleasant experience”

The hotel is located on Spring Garden Road, a vibrant shopping and dining area. It is about a ten minute walk to the Halifax Harbour, which also contains shops and restaurants as well as pleasing scenery. The hotel is across the street from the public park and very near the historic Citadel Hill. The hotel is an old property but has been well maintained and has an old World charm.

“What a great place to stay!”

From the moment I arrived (having forgotten the key to my suitcase lock at home) the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. Food was wonderful, and the suggested sight-seeing was well worth the walk. Centrally located, the Lord Nelson and its wonderful staff would be my first chioce for any future visit to Halifax.

Getting around
Unless you arrive at Halifax Airport between midnight and 3:30am, taking the airporter bus to your hotel provides a less expensive alternative than cabbing it. The drivers are friendly and helpful too.

“Unexpected luxury”

The hotel has been renovated and done in superb taste. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was beautifully appointed. One of the nicest rooms we have enjoyed and we have done a lot of traveling. Too bad it is so far away from California!

“Best beds!”

The hotel was conveniently located in downtown Halifax, well within walking distance of the waterfront and sights. The parking is extra, $20 per night, but worth it for the convenience. There is zero parking on the street. Getting from the parkade to the room was a pain, the elevator was only available from the lobby, we had to haul our luggage up a flight of stairs before we could access the elevator. We were told upon check in that a continental breakfast was ávailable', however we found it was an additional $12 per person, not a good deal! The room was small but clean. The beds were extremely comfortable, the best we had on our 3 week holiday. The hotel is pricey, but we scored a decent deal on Expedia.
