"Superb hotel in a lovely setting."
We spent four days in Hakone on our way from Nara to Tokyo and had a lovely time there. The hotel was superb in every way and the setting and the views were beautiful. Hakone is on the side of a volcano and, while we were there, there were frequent small tremors which the locals seem to take in their stride. The famous 'ropeway' was closed due to heightened concerns about the volcanic activity so it's worth looking into this issue before going. In spite of this we loved the place . We had a tatami room which was gorgeous, extremely spacious and full of Japanese character. The staff were wonderfully polite and extremely helpful indeed excellent in every way. There is a happy hour every evening with as much free champagne as you want and there is an excellent sushi restaurant. There is a free shuttle service down to the town and small railway station. They will also take you free of charge to Odawara to access the Shinkansen to Tokyo . If you are staying in the area and want luxury and if either of Japan then this is the place to stay. Most of the guests there were Japanese so the hotel is clearly well thought of by Japanese people and not just foreign tourists like ourselves. ( volcanic activity is of course completely out of the hotel's control )

"Convenient "
We caught a taxi $10 to the hotel as it was a little hard to find.. Once there we were convenient to the bus, they had a free shuttle to the train.. We had a lovely time in Hakone. The beds in the hotel were hard but I think that is in all hotel in Japan.. We would suggest purchasing a free pass while staying in Hakone it was great value. There are little grocery stores. The food and drinks were expensive everywhere in Hakone.

"Perfect location. Large rooms!"
Loved it! There's a convenient free bus service to the hotel (Contact the hotel in advance to make reservations from Odawara) Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who held our bags for us as we were quite early. The hotel exterior does show age, but the interior is clean and very well presented. We headed out via the rear entrance where there's access to a pirate ship that takes you across Lake Ashi to Hakone. (Buy Hakone Free pass at Odawara which gives you unlimited access to transport like the pirate ship, cable cars, buses etc for two days or more) The weather was forecast as cloudy with rain, but to our surprise it was warm and sunny so we were able to see Fuji throughout the day! After visiting various areas (such as the amazing Open Air Museum with Picasso exhibit) we returned to the hotel and were promptly shown to our room. The hotel staff actually came up to the room with us and explained things like how to use the air con etc. The room was huge. We'd booked a superior twin room as it was the only one available on expedia and was relatively inexpensive and it was big (not just by Japanese standards either) The ceilings were really high and we had huge windows with a beautiful view of lake Ashi. Outside of the hotel there isn't really much to do, but they do have a couple of very nice restaurants inside and a private bath area that you can hire for 45 minutes which was a very relaxing end to our day! Highly recommend this hotel!

"Cheap Hotel in Hakone"
Very affordable and a great value for the price. Public bath is available on site. The location is a little ways away from the main Hakone destinations, but you can get there easily by using the Hakone Tozan busses with the Hakone free pass to Yunassan and then a free shuttle from there. Be aware that the buses do not run 24/7, so check the schedules before going. We did not like the pillows provided by the room, and it is 300Y to rent a towel, but other than that this hotel is very good. Breakfast is ok, but there are only breads and pastries with coffee and juice, no meat, eggs, etc. Vending machines on site can provide a cheap frozen meal (cooked by the machine), drinks, and ice cream.

"Nice hotel near the lake, a bit old fashioned."
Very clean, well located hotel near the lake, with great onsen and very nice staff. The decoration (room, dining room) is a bit old fashioned. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast was disappointing for the price.

"Ok hotel"
Was assigned ground floor room maybe we check-in quite late after doing the Hakone round course. Room was ok. Our room does not come with meals, so we have to look for food elsewhere as the hotel restaurants are quite expensive. There is a family mart convenient near by where we have our breakfast. The public bath is great with an indoor and outdoor bathing pool. Room bathroom is not heated during winter so it is quite cold to take a shower in it.
