Snappers Inn was a very wise rental choice for us. The house sits in a hard to beat location. It is right by the water and has great views. The location is also quiet and relaxed. Many afternoons we enjoyed sitting on the deck and soaking in some sun while listening to the waves and smelling the fresh, clean, salty air. That being said...the house is also only 3-4 blocks from everything downtown. So you have quick access to shopping, restaurants, the Skagway fast ferry, and grocery stores. The best of both worlds! We also enjoyed picking the salmonberries that grow right on the road that the house is on. Fun!
Randa was very quick to respond when we had a question and got in touch with the owner, Patricia. Patricia was also pro-active in making sure we had everything we needed and was such a friendly lady. Really enjoyed meeting her and talking about the area.
There are a couple of negatives to consider. The couches were clean but pretty worn out and had boards under the cushions to keep them from sagging. That was pretty uncomfortable. Then again...you're in Haines! Get off the couch and get outdoors! But it would be nice to have a more comfortable seating arrangement in the evenings when winding down. The other thing is the pillows. Personally, I had a difficult time with them. Some are super flat. Others are lumpy. They are standard pillows, not down. So if you are used to a nicer pillow, I suggest bringing your own.
The house was well stocked with household items and also some extra cooking items that you might need (salt, pepper, vanilla, etc...). Other things we liked about this home were the washer and dryer and also the dishwasher. Very, very convenient!
Overall, I felt like this house was a good value for the price. While there were some drawbacks, the positives outweighed them. And the price was great. Combine those things and we have a winner, folks!
