Very friendly, clean, altogether very relaxing, 20 minutes from the station into Amsterdam and a short walk from the local restaurants and shops, what's not to like?

“Brilliant Hotel”

Stayed here for 3 nights in May 2012. Had booked the Deluxe room but got upgraded to the Executive room. (Maybe the receptionist saw that it was my birthday?) Rooms were not ready when we go there as we arrived first thing in the morning, but the receptionist was very friendly (I think her name was Stephanie) and let us put our bags behind reception and asked us to come back after 1pm. (checkin time is normally 2pm, i think) The room was amazing, and the decanters with whiskey and brandy and the free mini bar were well used! The TV had British TV as well as Dutch. The shower was really powerful too. There was some construction work going on at the office next door and the hotel had put an apology letter for that in the room, but I didn't notice any noise and i imagine that the work finished around 5pm, before we got back to the room most evenings.

“Weekend stay in Haarlem, Netherlands”

The Carlton Square Hotel was an excellant choice for my weekend stay in the charming town of Haarlem. The hotel itself was "top notch" in terms of appearance, convienence and comfort. A short walk from the hotel was all the major sites and attractions within the town. Haarlem itself is a miniture version of Amsterdam, with all its charm but without its congestion and seedy side. It was overall a wonderful experience.

“Weekend Visit”

Hotel was comfortable, with excellent service. The bartender in the 'Whiskey Bar' was very friendly. Located very close to the Tempelierstraat bus stop, made the hotel convenient to the centraal train station. Food at hotel is also completely fine. Front desk is a big help. Will be staying there again on next trip to Haarlem.

“Wonderful Haarlem Hotel”

Friendly, helpful staff, rooms beautifully clean, Our room was an executive room on the 6th floor. Toiletries & towels replenished daily. Complimentary mini bar included wines, soft drinks & spirits. In addition to the mini bar in the fridge was a carafe of cognac & whisky. Bathrobes & slippers supplied were of a good quality. Hotel is about a 20min walk from the bus/train station & Amsterdam is only 10mins by train. A lovely hotel set in a beautiful part of Holland, plenty of shops & restaurants in easy walking distance, We had 3 nights here & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Carlton Square Hotel would be my first choice & will definitely go back.

“Excellent hotel with great service!”

We had a top experience with Haarlem's Carlton Square. There was one particular guy who was new behind the reception desk but was fantastic and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and help where we asked, as well as a lot of the other staff. Our room (209) was perfect, newly refurbished and spacious. The free use of business centre (internet+printer) was very convenient to print out our travel requirements. It was walking distance to the Haarlem centre, however, you had to catch a bus to the train station which was the only down point in convenience. Overall though, would definitely recommend, especially for value of money that we paid!

“What a great hotel”

The hotel was awesome and the front desk service was super. Everyone one was nice. The only problem was it was a little far for Amsterdam

“Comfortable hotel ideally located”

The hotel is a little on the old fashioned side but generally well maintained & clean with friendly staff. The only downside was a rather soft bed and the fact that both the bar and the restaurant closed at 9pm on New Years Eve. The hotel is based in Haarlam which is lovely town, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Amsterdam is just 15 mins by train (3.70 euros) from the town's central station and there is a bus stop around the corner which will take you to station. An added bonus is that you can catch a bus (no 300) to the airport for just 4 euros which takes 45 mins.

“Room made us feel like royalty”

Due to a business convention, the hotel did not have the type of room we'd booked. Instead, we were given a free upgrade. From the moment we opened the door, we were absolutely thrilled with the decor. The bed was King sized and on a platform and looked like a bed fit for royalty. We spent the first several minutes taking pictures of the awesome bed and the room which included a comfortable couch and chairs. We really hated to leave our room! There is a business center with computers and guests can use the internet there. The hotel is a bit of a hike from the train station so I would recommend taking the bus which drops you off at the corner.
