VIP upgrades seem to no longer exist. Please note: A child in your room who is 14 is not considered a child by the hotel. They count as an adult. The expedia website does not make this clear when 4 guests are allowed per room. Only 2 people 14 and over are allowed per room without an extra charge.

This place is lovey . Having access to the spa was the highlight of this stay . The pool the Jacuzzi/ sauna was truly amazing ! Staff was very nice. The only issue I had was check in . When I arrived they couldn’t find my reservation which made that exact experience a nightmare because I thought I would have to find another place to stay last min. They stated Expedia over booked . How? I’m not sure . However, they did find a room . I had to wait 45 mins . After going to the spa area all the negativity eased because I was shocked as to how I almost couldnt stay when I paid 3 months ago .

Check in experience was extremely poor. For a hotel that calls itself the best in Guatemala and charges as such, the check in should have been at minimum professional.

Fabulous hotel that has been lovingly restored from a former convent. They have done a wonderful job to preserve the history, including an open air museum and many displays in the corridors. A peaceful retreat and great place to spend an entire day! Husband and I loved our massages (chocolate and Jade stone massage) as well as the spa amenities. We were also very pleased with the food quality and service throughout. We tried the spa restaurant and the main restaurant for dinner twice (it was that good). Room service breakfast was great as well. Enjoyed some birdwatching from the small balcony over the (good) coffee they provide in the hallway nearest each wing of rooms in morning and afternoon. Will return for sure. My only regret is that we didn’t have time to stay longer or fully explore all of the museum areas.

Excellent property--two things- wash cloths and maybe two bottles of water per day for a two person stay-never cared for the heavy handed shaming of buying water for the kids. You could just ask for a donation.

Magical hotel
This is a wonderful hotel, Beautifully clean with an old world charm. There are museums and exhibitions everywhere so you never get bored. The pool is a good size and the spa is amazing, The property is atmospheric and magical - sometimes spoiled by very loud hen parties or large groups (obviously not the hotel's fault). The staff are very friendly and helpful although the front of house staff cant help with the spa, booking taxis or arranging trips as these are all outsourced to other companies - which are onsite so it isn't a problem once you get used to it. I would definitely recommend this hotel - particularly the spa living packages for couples wanting a relaxing break.

Great hotel. A lot of history but only got to enjoy a fraction of what it can offer. Rooms were spacious and housekeeping came twice a day to clean room (over and beyond) . Recommend staying at this hotel whenever I am in Antigua

I didn’t like that I had to pay extra to use the sofa bed already included in the Junior Suite rate. I would have paid for a regular room but wanted extra space for my two kids. I was already paying extra for a Junior Suite instead of a regular room. This additional payment was not mentioned on the hotel’s website nor on Expedia. The staff wasn’t helpful or friendly about this and just insisted that we had to pay in order to use it.
