“Beautiful hotel right on the beach”
We loved this hotel. Our room faced the ocean and was on the first floor in a beautiful garden. The garden has incredible plants, trees, birds, iguanas etc. The pool is lovely and you can just go from pool to beach in less than a minute. The garden lawn chairs were great for sunbathing and lounging...no sand! Buffet breakfast was excellent with the hot choices changing daily. Service was very friendly and tour desk staff was great!
“Like a 2nd Honeymoon”
The Diria Beach Hotel is an absolute gem of a hotel. The staff were freindly and efficient, if not a little laid back, (...it was Costa Rica). The rooms were spacious and superbly finnished, and the actual hotel was beutiful in almost every way. Situated on a stunning beach, with private hotel access through tropical gardens, I would recomend this hotel to any traveller with a bit of extra cash. Tamarindo is a fast growining town and those who still want to experience the wonderful, young, and relaxed travelling feeling that it still gives off need to go asap! Those of you who are there to surf will be in heaven. Check dates though as October can be pretty damp.
“Totally going back”
The hotel was very clean and modern for Costa Rica. The price was a steal for the room and hotel ammenities. The breakfast buffet was delicious and everything is made to order! The hotel was so awesome we extended our stay for an additional weekend.
“Great Vacation spot”
We were very pleased with El Diria. Particularly, the staff who could not have been more helpful or friendly. Great location with in easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. My husband was recovering from surgery and I asked for and received a first room. It was large and well appointed. The rooms with the ocean view also have a small deck or balcony. The view is lovely with ocean and palm trees and well maintained grounds. They have a prominent location on the beach.
“would love to go back. would recommend this place to anyone”
all electrical switches in the room should be labeled because otherwise it is very confusing and involves a lot of time to figure it all out. everything else was simply fantastic. all employees were incredibly helpful, friendly and polite.
“The best beach front in Tamarindo”
Diria is a beautiful hotel situated between the boat moorings and the main surf break. Tamarindo Boulevard may be a bit to close for afternoon siestas because of afternoon traffic but since the surf was good and I was exhausted, I was able to get in a few afternoon naps. There's no need to leave the hotel if you want to relax for a few days since it's full service. If you're surfing, plan around the tides and swell predictions, easily found on CR surf report sites. When the surf is big, go at high tide. When it's small or is coming from the SW walk and paddle the river mouth to Playa Grande. I saw a beautiful 7 foot crocodile feeding on bait fish onlt 10 feet away from me at the break on 5/16. The bell staff at The Diria will take care of your boards in their lock-off behinf the front desk. Stay in style at Tamarindo Beach & Golf Resort. TJ Sanders, Music Director... “Tamarinda's best hotel”
What you see in the pictures is what the hotel was like. The hotel & location were great. The breakfast I would recommend, but we were not impressed with the rest of the food.I would definitely stay here again. The best meal& view in Tamarindo is at el Mirador restaurante.
“Impressive!!! Will come back again!”
Just as expected. It met our expectations and exceeded it too. The pool is awesome as were the hotel gardens. Need to make time to explore the hotel alone. Would love to be back again!
“For the Time of Your Life”
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Everything you need within walking distance. Go see Steve at Blue Trailz to book your activities. Dinner at the hotel, not so much but excellent food everywhere else. Very willing to please are the staff. Although we "lost" a pair of $30 rainbow sandals and a flip camcorder. Check your Visa bill as the hotel will charge your card $250 for "incidentals". We paid them in cash but still got charged on the Visa. Otherwise, a fabulous vacation in a land of fabulous people and adventure.
“3.5 Star, right on excellent surf & firm sand beach, great service, pools ok”
We stayed here for 5 nights in early July '11. Very impressed with the facilities for the price I paid. The room was great, AC very good, beds comfortable, balcony overlooking ocean (yes, get the upgrade for 30 m from the ocean--definitely worth it!!), and good maid service (we tipped everyday). The breakfast buffet was good. It had cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, breads, rice/beans (it's everywhere in Costa Rica, be prepared), meat (usually some kind of sausage, ham or bacon), a local dish, fried yucca/potatoes and an omelette making station. It was nice to eat everyday within view of the ocean and friendly service. The grounds of the property are well maintained and look like the pics on Expedia here. Lots of chairs available for use on the property, though beach chairs are $10 per day (once you enter the beach, you are no longer on Diria property). Speaking of the beach, wonderful walking, swimming and surfing for beginners like us. We spent tons of time boogie boarding and riding waves. Please be sure you know where the rocks are so you don't get hurt. Going directly out from the hotel is your best bet or just note rocks during low tide. So despite a few areas of the property that were run down and the pools that were good, but not spectacular (no waterfalls or slides and not deep enough for diving), I would highly recommend the hotel. FYI: family of three, one child 11 y.o., rainy season has downpours about 4pm, otherwise HOT!! Watch your skin 10-3!!
