Most everything was average. Food was ok facility was good. People were excellent. I had 1 issue and it was resolved immediately. Bartender was wonderful along with the person doing tours. He gave me recommendations and helped me with anything that I asked.

Our main complaint was the food. We could only eat at the "ala carte" restaurants 2 times during our stay. The service at those restaurants was excellent, the food was Ok. The rest of the time we had to eat meals at the buffet. More often than not the food was served cold. It was also a small buffet which not many good option. We believe that good food is part of a good all inclusive experience which is why we cannot give a good review. We would never stay there again. Which is what says it all.

The property was clean and safe. The room I had needed maintenace with little to no warm water and doors dragging on the floor due to loose hinges. The food at the speciality restraunts was good, but you are only allowed a limited number of visits to these. The buffet was hit and miss for the entries and many times the food was cold. The service was great in all areas of the resort.

Likes- pools were nice, the bartenders at the pool bar were the best! Seeing the wildlife was neat. Dislikes- no snack bar right near pools, with chips, dips, tacos, pizza, etc. that was accessible from 11-5:00. Asked for washcloths, it took 2-3 days to get them. Rooms were dark, they need more light, and very noisy. You can hear everything from the others rooms. Most of the foods at the buffet were cold. Some of the staff were extremely rude. We made the best of it, and had a good time.

Decent all inclusive option. Smaller property with 3 restaurants and 2 pools. Beach was very nice. I would reconsider this as an option if you’re a younger couple. Mostly caters to an older crowd!

It was pretty easy checking in and checking out but the property is very spread out and hilly. The food was very basic and VERY limited. Even paying for "premium" upgrade we got the same rules as a regular room. Also, I have never been to a resort that required you return your towels daily and wrist bands at the check out so you aren't charged. With all of that said most of the staff was kind and willing to help.

We had a great stay at Occidental Papagayo for our trip to Costa Rica. The staff was so friendly and fun. Some of the rooms AC didn’t work very well and showers weren’t always very warm. Other than that, no complaints. The food was great. The restaurants absolutely amazing! The bars were all great, as well as the pools.

Overall the resort is nice, a little outdated in decor, standard food is served at the buffet, they do have 3 on-site restaurants that are a great option for dinner. Staff and trip advisors on-site are all friendly and do a great job answering questions and helping you while on your trip. Resort is on a hillside, so be prepared to walk up and down some hills when going from your room to different areas of the resort. They do offer a shuttle service around the property. Beach is nice, shared with the locals, mainly on the weekend. Great spot for pictures though, and the safe swim zone is marked.

The shuttle from place to place should have a regular 30 minutes round trip from beach/pool. The DJ in the disco was crap! He played his songs, and played tracks of 6-7 songs from one artist. Did not read the room. Maid service needs a standard of rooms. There was 11 of us and we all had different amounts of towels etc. in 8 rooms. The big high tubs are not ok for anyone with knee issues. It was a daily struggle to get in and out of it. Been in better, been in worse.

The property was beautiful with lots of wildlife. All of the staff were so friendly and made our stay enjoyable. Food was hit or miss...fresh made omelets was a daily treat. Hamburgers at the grill were awesome. Fresh fish, salads and fruits were the highlights of buffet and ala cart restaurants. Stay away from the steak; you'll be disappointed. The resort was hilly and i enjoyed the exercise, many others complained so be prepared. There was a daily list of things to do and I was never bored.

The resort was in a beautiful area. Had a lovely vacation and would defiantly stay again The food was great and plentiful in the buffet. Only small complaint was the snack bar (breakfast and lunch) were okay at best, many times there was a lot of empty dishes and were not filled while we were there eating. Our room was cleaned well but many times didn't have towels after the room was made up and had to call for them.

The housekeeping and restaurant staff were awesome. Front desk could use some training in hospitality and not make guests feel like they are bothering them when asking for help or asking questions. We loved the rest of the staff. We Did not like the reservations for restaurants process. Having to stand in line every morning at 8am to make dinner reservations that same night is unacceptable. We should be able to make reservations when we check in and not have to rush to front desk every morning to make dinner reservations when this is supposed to be an “all inclusive” resort.

This hotel had absolutely terrible customer service. The grounds are nice and the beach was great, however, I became afraid to ask the staff anything because of the attitude and facial expressions I received almost every time I did. Also, the shuttles to take you up steep hills were hard to track down, or they drove past you as if they didn’t see you, which is strange because the roads are very narrow so you literally have to jump out of the way. Checking in was also a nightmare. They acted confused at the gate and couldn’t find my name. After they finally did, there was no instructions on where to park my rental car. When I asked, they said anywhere. So I winded up going down the wrong roads, sooo frustrating. They then put a lose bracelet on me, which came right off in the ocean. The cost to replace it was one nights stay at the hotel..unbelievable. This was of course my experience, someone else may have a better one.

We stayed here for our honeymoon for 5 days. We lucked out and got a great room by the ocean, so that was a huge plus. We also saw tons of animals! Monkeys, hawks, iguanas, raccoons. Drawbacks were: 1)They noted that we would have a stocked mini fridge. There were TWO beers in there. TWO. Granted, they'd replenish 2 daily but still. The bars by our hotel closed at 5pm so we'd have to walk pretty far to the restaurant to get any alcohol after 5pm. Other all inclusive resorts I've stayed in were full to the brim in the mini fridge. 2)I wouldn't recommend eating at the snack bar. It's in the name. It's all snacks (fried food, pizza, etc.) It's all super Americanized which I was not down for since one of the reasons we vacationed here is because Costa Rican food is so good! Speaking to that, the buffet had an "international food" night - it was all Americanized as well. Hot dogs, burgers, chicken wings, mashed potatoes, etc. We made an effort to try all of the above but it was all terrible. We are in Costa Rica, not America. Please don't try and make American food - American food is full of butter, preservatives, and all kinds of crap. When they tried to make it here it all tasted like cardboard. However, I will say the Italian restaurant was really good, so that's a plus! 3)I didn't realize we'd be on a shared beach that had public access. We specifically booked an all inclusive ADULTS ONLY resort to not be around kids, but at the beach there were tons of kids everywhere.

The a la carte restaurants were good. Too much walking, stairs and hill climbing for me, more than just your average for people in decent shape. Poor selection at the bars and never seen a slice bacon in 11 days.

Staff were exceptional. Especially JJ at the tour desk. He went above and beyond every day even when it wasn't his area. The only complaint I have anout this property is the amount of walking. However, they do provide shuttle service between rooms and lobby, pools, beach etc

Beautiful area with mostly great staff. Room was good but the door key card always glitched out. Had to get it recoded several times before they replaced the entire door lock. Family we traveled with had several hundred dollars stolen - think housekeeping-and they did not get it retuned because they said they should have put it in the room safe. The room safe was broken, and they were told as much. Made no difference to them.

We have replaced card keys with bracelets that contain a chip that is not affected by getting close to objects or getting wet.In the event of having a guest reporting a theft in the room, our staff is fully aware of the procedures to undertake, being first to verify the cards used to enter the room and offer the option to contact the official authorities for you to fill an official complaint, unfortunately as clearly reported on the hotel's litterature, the hotel cannot be taken responsible for valuables and peronsal belongings not secured in our in-room safes,When a guest reports a safe in poor condition, it is replaced with another one in good working order.Once more we thank you for sharing your experience with us and look forward to serving you again soon.Kind regards,Raúl ArranzGeneral Manager
