“Just right.”

Just right for central location in a lovely city. Staff friendly and efficient. Comfortable and well-appointed. Breakfast fine. Hotel car parking limited, but staff were very helpful in guiding to best option. Groningen's one-way systems and signage are a bit "interesting" at times, so make sure you have a good enough map!

“Excellent place to stay in Groningen”

I was very happy with this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. There was free internet on two computers in the lobby. The worst part was on Saturday night when people were out in the bars nearby and stayed rather loud until around 2 a.m. The other nights were quiet. Other than that, it was great!

“Everything I needed”

I found that the staff at the hotel were curteous, friendly and helpful. The hotel facilities were all that I needed and my room was clean and the furniture in good condition. The location was within a few minutes of restaurants, some tourist attractions and the marke. The hotel rent out bicycles but people from England should note that if you wear a cycling helmet in Groningen you will attract attention.

“Would use this hotel again.”

Visited our daughter who is presently studying in Groningen in February and were very pleasantly surprised by the interior of the hotel. Greeted by a warming open fire in reception. Found all staff (especially the waitering staff at breakfast) to be extremely polite and helpful. Well stocked vending machines with coffee and selection of teas on each floor for guests to use at any time. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast which consisted of scrabbled eggs; bacon; selection of cold meats; 3 types of cereals; selection of breads; 2 types of cheese, delicious creamy yoghurts; fruit juices; fresh fruit bowl and tea or coffee. Free internet corner and free use of pedals bikes also available. Enjoyed taking the bikes out but take care when riding around as bikes seem to come from all directions! Situated in a very convenient location very close to the centre. Had a delicious meal in a Turkish Restuarant just around the corner from the hotel on the way to shopping centre. Found food to be reasonably priced and the people of Groningen to be very friendly and polite. Credit cards are not accepted in Groningen and you are not able to walk into a bank to convert money to Euros (unless you have a bank account at the bank!) so make sure you take enough Euros for your stay. (You can convert money at the train station but charged a high commission for the privilige!)

“A great bargain and very stylish”

The Eden City Hotel is a terrific small hotel in a very interesting city. We were having trouble getting to it on Groningen's 1-way streets, but a call to the hotel got us complete English instructions. The hotel is designed in a very interesting way with wonderful "signature" lighting fixtures throughout. The room and the bath were good sized and immaculate.

I've stayed at this hotel several times now as I come to Groningen for work 2 or three times a year. As most European hotels the rooms are not very large but they are clean and comfortable. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is directly across the street from the Holland Casino. A short walk to the Great Market (a central square with shops and restaurants) close to bowling, movies and a small redlight district. The one main drawback is the lack of an in hotel restaurant but they do have a nice bar open til 1:00 and full breakfast in the mornings.
