We weren't sure what to expect when we got to Grand Marais as we had never been before - we had actually already "prepared" ourselves for a small town experience regarding accommodations but what we got was a room that rivaled if not exceeded the reality of our most recent large city stays!
When we arrived and entered our room for the first time, we were presented with a modern room, spacious, separate large vanity, large walk-in shower - heat lamp in the shower room which was most appreciated given the record breaking low temps we experienced! We also had a large desk, and separate seating area giving us a place to "relax" and put our feet up (yes there was an ottoman!) without having to be "on the bed".
A small fridge and microwave allowed us to enjoy our evening before left-overs the next day as well!
HOWEVER - nothing compared to the incredible VIEW!!! I had never expected to experience minus 30 degree temperatures on a winter vacation, and willingly open the patio doors just to be on the balcony and hear the lapping of the waves of Lake Superior against the shoreline literally within reach of our room!
A surprisingly SUPERIOR stay!!
