“Nice Surprise”

It was all good! Found it more pleasing than the Howard Johnson's in Fargo, I had previously stayed in the past.

“Great!”

For the price it was a great hotel. My kids loved the water park and the hot tub was great. We liked that we had our own entrance. Would stay there again!

“Clean and friendly!”

We stayed at the Howard Johnson in Grand Forks. The room was basic, very clean (and I'm a bit of a nut that way), and I was impressed to find duvet covers and four generous sized pillows on each bed. The water park area was clean, but needed a bit of maintenance done to the walking surfaces, and a freshening up. The exterior of the hotel looked due for a face-lift as well. The free continental breakfast was extensive and of good quality. I'd use this hotel again.

“Now a HoJo”

As the improvised signage indicates, this one-time Clarion has become a HoJo, thought significant renovation has yet to occur. Though the public spaces show wear and tear or neglect, the rooms are clean and comfortable enough. The hotel's chief advantage is its location just by the off-/on-ramps for I-29. Restaurant/bar are satisfactory and staff is unfailingly helpful and cordial. Wouldn't recommend for a long stay, but for one night as part of a long-haul road-trip, it serves the purpose at an OK price. The hotel does accommodate pets, for an extra $15 + tax.

“Not a bad place to stay!”

We enjoyed the stay at this location. There were things that needed work yet, but they are working on them as they can. There were many of the locks on the outside doors to the rooms that didn't operate. Ours did, but many in our group did not. We had a wedding here over the weekend and it was very nice. I thought the bar prices were to high, but other than that it was a great place for the reception and dinner. The staff was very helpful when needed.

The pool was very good for kids, the hot tub was not working one night then the watter was cold.

Great place for the kids, love the pool and the slides. The food was very tasty, especially the breakfast, lots of varieties to choose from. Overall very good experience

“A very pleasant surprise!”

I have often found Howard Johnson hotels not to be up to a satisfactory standard. This hotel is definitely an exception to that rule. It is truly a quality hotel. Although it is a bit "dated" in some ways, the rooms are very clean and large. They are well equipped. They are quiet. The Internet service I got in my room was very good. I truly would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a very affordable place that will likely surprise them. Great stay!

“Untrained staff at the Howard Johnson.”

On arrival, I was horrified at the condition of the drapes from the outside. Many had hooks missing and appeared to be in a state of disrepair. The paper products in the room was like crepe paper. One of us had a cold and the tissue was not replaced when it was empty. The towels were not replaced properly and as a result someone had to chase down housekeeping to get enough towels. We were given breakfast vouchers but after having dinner in the restaurant the night before, we decided to not indulge in the morning. At dinner, the server served a chicken caesar salad without dressing (not even on the side), a prime rib dinner with no potatoe and the prime rib had been grilled. The walleye was served without proper sauces and when the sauces were asked for they were brought out individually and one at a time. He did not even realize that these should accompany the meals. On the whole, we were not too impressed with the Howard Johnson and will not stay again.

“Cheap stay”

Continential breakfast was good. We had to ask to have our rooms vaccumed. They were not done prior to our check in. Hotel needs to be updated. Our room was cold and took a long time to warm up. The pool and hot tub needed to have more chemicals added, and or cleaned. No bed bugs. Good cheap place to stay if only need a bed for a night.
