This small hotel is in a picturesque old building around a patio, which is used as a dining room. It is steps from Plaza Nuevo, just under and a short walk from the Alhambra, and close to everything in the old town. The room we had was small but completely adequate, with a beautiful old wooden ceiling. I highly recommend staying here!

No front desk staff at our property the entire time. Had to go to a different hotel for all assistance. Website says laundry. No laundry. Elevator but still many stairs up to hotel and more to our room. Nosiest street. Loud partition people till early morning, terribly loud scooters constantly, construction workers, street cleaners each day for hours and hours.

From checking in to leaving and everything in between the staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. The hotel is so convenient for seeing the Alhambra and shopping and dining. Easy to find taxis and buses are right outside the door. The rooms we’re comfortable and the perfect size with air conditioning and a tv if you desire. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel for your stay in beautiful Granada.

A pleasure to stay in.
I have stayed here before, again the room was huge, very historic and a beautiful bathroom. They now have bottles of body wash etc instead of little sachets so is now a good step up in standards. Highly recommended place to stay. Nice and quiet but the most central you can be.

Charming old world atmosphere in the city center
Very nice old world atmosphere in the hotel. Beautiful antique furnishings. The room was a bit dark and I wish the AC worked a bit better but not bad. Great location. If you’re driving parking is quite far away. Staff was nonexistent. We couldn’t even officially check in until the second day. That was the only time we saw someone that worked there. We felt like we were the only ones staying there. We never saw another person the whole stay.

Poor hotel, poor service.
The desk help was unfriendly. The access to the hotel is through a restaurant that was often packed with people. At times there were so many people dinning that we had to ask several people to kindly move their chairs so we could get to the stairs to our room. While not ideal, this was not so bad that I would down rate the hotel. The staff glairing at us each time we interrupted the dinners was annoying. Our room was pleasant and comfortable. However the walls are thin and our neighbors were extremely noise at all hours of the day and late into the night.

Very helpful staff! Only can get hot water at the bar which running 8am to 1230am in the midnight. Need to aware of limited access on the road in front of hotel. We parked our at St. Augstin market around 10 min walk. We got 5 euro per night discount at Hotel reception which was really a favor!

What I liked about this hotel was the location and the old world style of the place being that it is was a 17th century domicile. Also the restaurant is quite good so eat there it is pleasant and the best service I had anywhere while in Spain. I had two big issues the first one was that I had no internet in my room only in the dining area which was difficult for me and the second issue is that there is really no front desk. If you need help from an concierge there won’t be any actually the phone in the room rings a non existent number I think.

Quaint and charming hotel in a perfect location from which to explore Granada. Fairly basic (no safe or minibar) but the room and bathroom were spacious and the bed was enormous! The restaruant and breakfast buffet was nice – good quality of food, wine and service. Overall the place is traditional, stylish and pleasant.

Superb cosy hotel retaining much of it's 18th century charm. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly.. The restaurant was full of atmosphere, excellent food and very popular with the locals at the weekend for groups and parties which must speak for itself. The hotel is ideally situated between the old town and the new at the foot of the hill going up to the Alhambra which takes an exhausting 20 - 30 minutes on foot but there is also a bus stop just 2 minutes away for the less energetic. To sum up we were delighted with out choice!

Wonderful hotel.
From check in to check out I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the room was beautiful, large bathroom with bath, and the room was very quiet, the area is perfect, as I know the area I wanted to stay central and this is as central as you can get and because it's set back from the main square (plaza nueva) there is no noise from bars or people. There was one very big problem, they didn't have an iron, I don't know how they can expect people to go out in un ironed clothes I do not know. After I demanded them to get an iron they said they would borrow one from another hotel. It's not like an iron and ironing board is expensive.

Nice small hotel with friendly staff. Abit different to find as it is located in narrow tiny street. However very close to Alhambra. We were guided to a near by car park which costed 20 euro for 24 hrs. The Toilet and shower was also very good. I would recommend this hotel for one or two day stay.

Difficult to find as sat nav had problems with mountains. Not very accessible for anyone with mobility problems and very little English spoken so could practice our Spanish. Room was cold as heater not very powerful and breakfast was basic with either tea or coffee and just a tostada. Hotel is very old and interesting and very spanish

Dirty, overpriced: the worst place you can pick
Our stay in this hotel was a complete nightmare. We picked the place for our New Year's eve and there was only one good thing about it: now we know the year will only get better. Nothing can be worse than this place. In our arrival, the manager told us we would have to pay and extra $15 Euros because we were booked for a triple room, but wanted to stay in a double. Isn't is cheaper, I asked? Yes, but since you are changing today, I will overcharge you, he answered. It was just the smallest of the problems. The elevator door has no sensor and closes on you all the time. The room was disgusting. Small, full of mold, covered with exposed energy cables around the bed... In the bathroom water flows all over the floor after a one minute shower. But the worst part was when we decided to sleep. The sheets were full of hair (brown, red, and blond, believe me)!!! Stains were everywhere. We could barely sleep. I don't understand how someone can let a hotel become such a terrible place. I will never, ever, go back. And recommend that you stay away from this place.

Perfect Location and an authentic Granada feel
Booking this hotel, I was nervous and hesitant as people had numerous negative things to say. In retrospect I'm glad I booked this hotel and didn't let the negative reviews be the deciding factor in my decision. The hotel is in THE MOST PERFECT location. It's a minute walk to Plaza Nueve, it's a minute walk to the Arabian baths, 20 minute walk to the main entrance of Alahambra. The hotel itself is a converted mansion so the "paper thin" walls reviews make sense. With that being said, we were comfortable both nights and didn't hear any excessive noises. As we were in Spain for 2 weeks we stayed at 6 different hotels and the paper thin walls are very common unless you are willing to pay $200+ per night. The room was very spacious and had AC. In regards to the "long walk up the cobblestone street"- it's a 2 minute walk and yes, it's annoying to be dragging your suitcase but it's not that big of a deal (I'm a 110 lb person and if I can drag a 50 lb suitcase so can anyone else). It's Spain, you will come across cobblestone streets, stairs, hills and other inconveniences all the time! Although half of the staff didn't speak English they were beyond helpful. A receptionist that didn't speak English literally walked us out of the hotel and to the nearest tourist information booth. I haven't seen any hotel do that! Overall I would very much recommend this hotel if you want to be in the perfect location while staying at a very authentic, reasonably priced Spanish property.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER
Arrived at this lovely property after climbing up a cobblestone stairway from where the taxi could drop me. Staff is NOT on the property 24/7. I was LOCKED IN, LOCKED OUT and was very disappointed in this service. Rooms on the street are very noisy. Paper thin walls within and without, so if there is noise somewhere, it will be in your room. The RESTAURANT in the courtyard of this hotel is OUTSTANDING, but can be noisy (sports bar) and is closed Sunday and Monday--exacerbating the hotel's lack of staff. Otherwise, fantastic location at Nuevo Plaza, and nice room and shower.

Good, helpful hotel, excellent location
Good, mid-range hotel in an excellent location. It shares a reception with a hotel across the square - you might need to go over there to check in and check out - but staff are really helpful. They can book Alhambra tickets for you (at a small extra fee) and we got ours for the next day when the public website was showing fully booked. If you need parking tell them in advance if you can - it's limited space in a nearby underground car park.

Perfect location but very dated
This was our final stay in a two week trip to Spain. The room was not the highlight of the trip. Although central, the room was not well maintained. Also, the cleaning staff definitely missed a lot of corners, including not replenishing our dirty glasses etc. I would try something else next time. They speak of soundproof rooms...not a all as you hear all the bathroom noises of your neighbor.

great hotel and location
Small hotel (I believe 12 rooms) with an associated restaurant, very centrally located on Plaza Nueva, in walking distance of the touristic sights of the old city. A nice, large courtyard, and beautifully restored rooms, with old wooden beams. Rooms are quite spacious, with large, modern bathrooms, and mine at least had a balcony. The only caveat is that the area can be loud, in particular due to church bells that ring at various hours of the day, and sometimes the night (the 16th-century Church of San Gil and Santa Ana is less than a block away). Overall, a great deal for the area, nice interior, and friendly operators.

This is a great hotel. It is well-located--walking distance from the Alhambra and the Albaicin. It is on a small square, and not on a busy street, so is quiet. The building itself dates from the 17th century, but the rooms include modern windows so that it is quiet. Tall ceilings, tile floors, and french doors that opened out on the square. On the ground floor there is a bar area where one can eat. An excellent choice.

K, Near Boston

Convenient location in Old Granada
I stayed at Casa del Pilar for three nights in late February. It was quiet at the hotel, because it was the off season. My single room was small, but everything worked as advertised. The wifi was fine. The hotel is a fantastic historic home from the Moorish period - and has a lovely interior courtyard and its own coffee bar for breakfast. The location is unbeatable. It is steps from the Albayzin quarter, and a lovely walk along the river. The Alcazar of the Alhambra palace seems to loom overhead. Two bells (one from the Church of Santa Ana and another in the Plaza Nueva) mark the quarter hours in a lovely way. There is virtually no traffic noise since the hotel is in an alley behind a courthouse. My only complaint is about something that may be beyond the control of the hotel. Maybe it's due to the new law in Spain prohibiting smoking in bars in Spain that forces smokers out onto the street. But in any case, during my stay I had a hard time sleeping because late into the night, people from a bar down the street were being very loud, singing and shouting in the alley, right down the street from the hotel. Despite this, I recommend the hotel. You can ask for a room that is not near the bar, and perhaps the hotel will address the problem with the bar's owner.
