Loved my recent stay at the Goodland. The staff made me feel right at home upon arrival to departure. This is a very cool and hip hotel - more upper-class guests in their 30's or below. Although the bar attracts the swanky type of all ages. The pool was gorgeous and they have something going on every night.
Everything was great except my actual room that smelled like cigarette smoke. Also, my room connecting door was right behind the closet in the room next door. So I could hear everything they did from my room-- every time they opened the door or slammed their closet door closed I would jump. It was a bit frustrating and annoying, but it was also a noisy crew. Next time I stay there I will see what I can do about this issue. Everything else about my stay was fantastic so I will definitely return.
We arrived to find a personable front desk man who checked us in and spent lots of time telling us about the facilities. Warm cookies were on the counter and he directed us to a soon to be ending cocktail reception. Although there were only 5 minutes left, we were graciously offered drinks and a selection of food like salami, cheeses, and bruschetta. Our room was a spacious 2 room suite. It was clean and perfect for our 5 person family group. The grounds are lushly landscaped and beautiful. Breakfast was a delight - made to order eggs, omelettes, and much more. This was our second experience with Pacifica Hotels and it won't be our last. Comfortable accommodations and top notch service will make me seek out more. In fact, I'll soon be posting my review of Our stay in Cambria CA.
For half the amount of any room in the area I expected worse but was pleasantly surprised. Hotel was renovated with a new modern look that I wasn't expecting from Motel 6. Bed was a little stiff but all in all I won't complain and would stay again

"Best of the outdoors for those who do not like camping or roughing it. Expensive. Clean."
Expensive, but worth it at least once. Very clean, well done. Comfortable, quiet - good policy of "no cars in canyon". Leave your car at parking area (after initial luggage drop) and short walk to cabin. Staff friendly. Good for those into peace, quiet and enjoying nature without having to actually camp.

I really only slept there and checked in very late. The refrigerator had defrosted and left a puddle in the vanity area; I wasn't initially sure of the source of all the water. The staff was very apologetic and willing to move me to another room - not necessary. The room was very clean and spacious. Next time I go to Santa Barbara I will definitely consider staying there. The pool looked very clean and inviting and the location was convenient for me with my daughter in Isla Vista.
Wasn't sure if there was "dealing" going on in back as there were several vehicles with many people with their trunks or backs of vans open. seemed like many people coming and going each time I looked out.
University of California-Santa Barbara resides in this coastal suburb. Goleta Beach’s pier, sandy beach, and barbecue pits attract summer crowds while Stow House is the focal point for local history and events. For four months each year, Monarch butterflies call The Coronado Butterfly Preserve home but visitors can hike year-round through the park’s eucalyptus groves and along the Ellwood Bluffs.
