“Luxury apartment, shame as out of season”

Had we known the entire Kicking Horse Resort was closed (no grocery store, pub, bar, restaurant, day lodge, no hotel staff at ANY of the other hotels in the resort apart from one handyman), we would still have come. Although we would have alcohol with us! We didn't want to drive down the mountain to try for a liquor store after an already long drive to Kicking Horse. Ghost town at Kicking Horse is an understatement! But it was just as well, we enjoyed uninterrupted view of the mountains with no human interaction (apart from hot tub boy checking out hot tub and giving us tips on local bears). Within 5 mins of arrival, we saw a black bear on the decking. Hot tub was divine and the sun came out, perfect weather for suntanning at 26 celcius! The full kitchen was luxuriously equipped. No expense was spared in the crockery, cutlery and other appliances. Appreciated the Aveda bath products and the laundry powder for the washing machine. We used the BBQ for dinner and enjoyed many hot tub sessions! AWESOME! We had Unit 33 which is a 2 bedroom/ 1 bathroom apartment at the Aspens (owned by Brian) and appreciated his thorough mountain resort guide! The bedrooms both had double beds but the rooms were very cosy with just enough room to walk around the bed (around 10ft by 8ft.) Definitely recommend for nature lovers in the summer (just bring enough food/beverage supplies) and I can see how it can be a bustling ski resort in winter!
