"Mini 'moon"
We stayed at Cowley Manor for 2 nights after our wedding and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The hotel facilities and grounds were fantastic and the food excellent, especially breakfast. I found the evening meal we had in the restaurant slightly over-priced at £118 (exc. tip) for 2 x 3 course meal plus a £26 bottle of wine but that didn't detract from the overall experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Cowley Manor to anyone who fancies a relaxing couple of days away, particularly if the weather is good which enables the hotel grounds to be enjoyed to their fullest.

"Great inn if you have a car."
We came to this lovely inn by train and taxi from London. Once there we had to walk or hire a taxi to get around. Most local attractions are too far away to walk to. The facility is beautiful.

"Bewitching English hospitality in casual style"
From arrival everything was excellent. The manicured gardens, the personal reception by the General Manager, the common areas, our room ... Then came dinner ... and breakfast ... and tea ... everything superb. We are well travelled. We have been in several countries of South America, Central and North America, Europe, Asia and Africa, and in very good hotels. Buckland Manor is among the very best.

"A Warm Wiltshire Welcome"
This apparently recently refurbished hotel has been very tastefully and sensitively decorated to create a warm, calm and friendly environment. The completion of the reception area (work on-going June 2015) will no doubt ensure the final jigsaw piece is in place for a high quality welcome. Everyone from the French Manager (no doubt ensuring culinary excellence) to the Bar and Waiting team members did a great job of making me feel at home. It's not often on my travels that everyone makes you feel valued. The room was very clean; the bathroom in my room was very well designed (I took a photo to steal a few ideas for back home). The rooms were named with an entertaining twist with the room number embedded in the text. Despite it's proximity to a junction that was quite busy in rush hour, the village was relatively quiet at night. My bedroom was within the central horseshoe of the building well away from the road. Because of it's period nature, some of the staircases offer a challenge to those returning from an evening in the bar, however this rustic charm felt very appropriate and far better than losing the character. Being an old coaching inn, the entrance to the rear car park is quite tricky as the narrow passage, fine for medium sized cars was, at around 1.95M, 5cm narrower than my 7 seater people carrier. However, with one wing mirror folder in, it's quite possible to navigate through. Next time I'll take one of the small number of pavement spaces at the front.

"Good and bad!"
We stayed here a few years ago and wanted to return again. The gardens and location are hard to beat, both our room and bathroom were very comfortable. Our room overlooked the car park at the front of the hotel and although it afforded a nice view of the town, it was quite noisy at times. The weather was warm, and the room had no a/c, so we had to leave windows open. We found the staff to be vey mixed in friendliness and helpfulness. Reception was overall friendly but very businesslike. We enjoyed chatting to the bartender one evening and actually had a very good dinner. By contrast, the staff in the restaurant at breakfast really jhad "attitude".....not sure why. It started when we arrived, sat for a while and then were offered a table in a very busy corridor. We asked for another table and were basically told that was it....even though other better positioned tables stood empty..The comment that we would not be bothered by a constant stream of people walking past our table was quite inaccurate. Everyone entering the restaurant passed by us.....annoying and certainly not relaxing. The breakfast, when we got it, was quite forgettable. My husband said his was "bland" and my Eggs Benedict was cold.

"Excellent Location in Cheltenham Town Centre"
Very pleasing bar restaurant hotel in an excellent location opposite the Town Hall Imperial Square and Gardens. Staff were most friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. Facilities at the hotel were of a high standard although the lack of a stand to put my suitcase on in the room meant that it was once again on the floor. Many hotels forget this basic necessity! Unfortunately my stay was during one of the hottest days of the year and as there is no air-conditioning in the rooms it became rather uncomfortably hot. They did provide portable electric fans to help but I rather feel that when a hotel charges its customers the very top prices then they should provide the very top facilities. I would however recommend this hotel without hesitation and the continental breakfast was excellent with the option to purchase a wide range of additional cooked items.

"Very elegant, conveniently placed B&B, Cheltenham"
Located in the grand Imperial Square, this impressive Georgian town house B&B is very stylish. The ground floor breakfast room is a grand space where the original historic features are complemented by colourful paintings and some sculptures. However it still retains a warm and welcoming ambiance for breakfast dining. Our twin room was not large but had all we required for a one night stay; clean, comfortable, warm and bright with a street view. There are 4 flights of stairs to negotiate so that has to be considered for those less sprightly. Our host was very welcoming and kindly went out again to the shops to supply me with gluten free cookies and soya milk to have with my tea. GF bread was also provided at the delicious breakfast. We were at a gig at the Town Hall, a matter of steps away, with many shops and places to eat very close by. If any comment were to be made in the negative it would be just that the beds were a little soft for us, but for most I am sure they would be great. Really enjoyed out stay and would recommend.
