“Not as good as other AC Hotel”
Stayed at AC Ponferrada the night before this and it was excellent. AC Gijon did not come up to the mark (but it was cheaper. Very difficult to find in one-way Gijon and very few signs. The free bar that they say they have (my wife fancied a coffee when we arrived after a stressful journey) did not open 'til midnight! Very clean tho', and good value, but on't believe the blurb.
“Not the best”
The hotel is in a random location, with (not so) beautiful views of a gas station & garage forecourt. Our room had a stale smell, and water damage around the window. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet, there is a free mini bar with soft drinks only. There is no free wi-fi and breakfast is quite expensive. Overall, I am certain there are better hotels for the money in Gijon.
“AC Gijon Disappointed "by Marriott"”
Hotel easy to find. Parking easy and free. Receptionist not at desk when we arrived so we had to wait. Our assigned room stank of drains. We were given another room on the same floor which also stank. So we were given a room on another floor which finally was acceptable. The Gym was ok but unsupervised. The claimed "Turkish Bath" was just a steam room. We did not eat at this hotel as there did not seem to be anything on offer. Downtown (harbour side) Gijon is good for dining but a 20 mins drive away. This hotel is supposed to be "by Marriott" but is no where near Marriott standard. Even for the claimed "we provide 4 pillows" there were only 3!!
