Wonderful Family Destination Hotel

Posted 14-Apr-2015
Pros: Kids loved the fish-pond in the lobby but my wife and I especially like the pull-out love seat bed for the 6 year old. The "green" touches were nice.
Location: Gettysburg is wonderful for the rich history and beautiful countryside.
My wife, two kids and I had a wonderful stay at the Comfort Suites in Gettysburg. Wow, was it close to everything and all of the amenities were perfect for our little family. The breakfasts were spot-on and the pool was of course a highlight for the children. Everything was clean, everyone was so nice and our time in this historic region was fantastic. Kids loved the fish-pond in the lobby but my wife and I especially like the pull-out love seat bed for the 6 year old - he thought he had the best bed in the suite. Nice touches were the choice of soft or firm pillows - I like firm and everyone else wanted "squishy" - and the Green Choice of getting a $5 credit for opting out on maid service for a night.

Pros: The beds were comfortable. The rooms were quiet even though I knew there was a rowdy bunch staying on my floor (because we were with them!).
Cons: There was still some trash in the bathroom and we found candy wrappers on the floor by the bed so they could clean a little better.
Location: Plenty to do nearby but we were at a convention and had very limited time. However, the Pike Tavern right next to the hotel has awesome food.
I was only an overnight stay but was convenient to everywhere we needed to go. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was even able to get a later check out at the last minute due to a late night.

Wanted comfortable place for ski weekend with kids

Posted 23-Feb-2015
C'mon Comfort Suites! This hotel is snoozing. It's in a great spot to see Gettysburg and surrounding attractions, but it needs help! Staff is trying, (yes and no), but they need something to work with. Lightbulb in our bathroom fanlight was burned out, no engineers on duty to fix. Pool water and pool room were freezing, my kids were in for two minutes. Staff said the pool temperature is "locked" and they can't make it warmer. That is a ridiculous set up. Granted, it was a freezing weekend, but that's why the staff need control of the pool thermostat. Also, utility room door in pool room was pumping cold air out from under large gap under door. It was like air-conditioning. Please fix the bike in the workout room and please, please keep the fish tank clean or give your fish to a good home. Your breakfast area smells like a dirty fish tank. Also, you don't have enough housekeeping staff. The couple you do have are trying hard but can't keep up! Also, the front entrance has a strange smell, and when you walk in the lobby, all you can smell is chlorine. I'll be staying somewhere else next time!

Inexpensive, but not very convenient.

Overall, this was a pleasant stay for our family. Location right next to the graveyard could be undesireable for some. Not close to the center of Gettysburg. The room was clean but there was a radio playing from somewhere during most of the day. Breakfast was very crowded with some items running out. Should have been better staffed during the MLK holiday weekend. Staff though in general were attentive and polite.

Everyone was awesome from the front desk, manager and support staff. They all went above and beyond, we will definitely be staying next year and any other time I'm in the area. We had an interesting adventure to say the least.

Great service, pretty clean, and comfy. It is listed as being close to Cemetery Hill. It's practically IN Cemetery Hill! parking lot in front . Surrounded by cemetery in the back. Gettysburg is practically a big cemetery anyway, so we didn't mind.
