Situated in the middle of a National Scenic Area on the edge of the magnificent Galloway Forest Park the town is in an ideal area for walking, cycling or fishing holidays whilst only a very short drive from two of the south west's more beautiful beaches with a splendid outlook over the Solway Firth. Castle Douglas is a small town situated near the centre of Dumfries and Galloway, an ideal base for exploring the region. The town has an interesting history, especially that of Threave Castle, the stronghold of the Black Douglases. Castle Douglas has recently been launched as a Food Town and visitors can enjoy a variety of foods in Castle Douglas, whether Eating Out or merely buying quality food products.

“Awaiting development”

The room was clean, however whilsr the bed looked attractive it was uncomfortable. Probible because it had not been errected correctly. The radiator in the room needed to be bled it was warm at the bottom but cold at the top. In the ensuit the light above the mirror was broken and not working. Overall this hotel was under going alterations which were almost completed as could be seen in the dinning area. But the finer details have not yet been completed. I am sure that when completed this will be a very pleasant hotel.
