Overall my wife and I had a lovely impromptu couple of nights at Carthage Thalasso. The pool gets a little crowded with the day pool visitors but that’s totally understandable for them to make a bit more $ off of that. Pool side performers were great. The spa was a little underwhelming. Massage was fine but didn’t get the “experience” we typically do at other hotels that offer spa services. Overall, we would come back here for a relaxing weekend.

Very bad management they promised, and they do not deliver. I did complain couple of times about an issue. They promised to fix it and they never dead. The only person I would remember about this property is the housekeeping her name is Nabila. I would never recommend it to anyone

Great Stay in Gammarth
My colleague and I had great stay at Carthage Thalasso. We had a ten day business trip and this hotel was an excellent choice. The breakfast was a delicious way to wake up each morning (be sure to ask for the mlawi with honey). There are many spaces for work and also areas for relaxation, like the spa, pool, or beachside. I found the hotel staff amazingly friendly and supportive - the staff are the real reason I would recommend the hotel. You’ll be sure to enjoy your stay. Gammarth is a nice area, several evenings we took walks along the beach to local bars and restaurants. When I come back, I will be sure to stay here again!!

Lovely hotel
Service was good and polite. Great pools. Drinks were good. Beach not too far from hotel, probably a 4 minute walk. Definitely would like to come back again.

Disengaged staff. Limited options. Old food, especially for breakfast, and very little awareness of basic breakfast needs (like coffee). Pool water not so good. Room AC not strong enough and I got stuffy nose from it.

Loved that there was an indoor pool and a spa! I loved that there was close access to the beach and a great view from the hotel room! Unfortunately the room did smell a little like mildew to me.

Not as we expect according to rating
It want as good as we expect, I would never recommend that place to anyone. Even though I pay all the cost they come up with hidden cost on 3 dinar each night as call city tax for both of us. Breakfast they didn't have the black tea and everytime we have to wait for 10 mintue to get it. Always problem bringing our own water or beer is a problem but after few conversation they let it go. Zacuzzi cost 20 dinar each person ever though in website is free. Part of hotel have dodgy massage parlour where they charge 80 to tourist but normal price in 60

This is a 2 Star hotel with a pool.
Where do I start...I have no idea how anyone has given this place good reviews; they must have really low standards. I really cannot believe this is considered a 5 star hotel. It’s a 2 star hotel with a couple swimming pools. Stayed here 3 days. Upon check-in they asked me to have a seat and said they’d get me a drink while I wait; that drink never arrived, but no big deal. They put me into a room with an AC that would only run on low. I called reception and they send the maintenance guy to work on it- then he tried to convince me that it was on max and that’s just how it is. Finally after making me wait hours while they worked on it they finally agreed to put me into another smaller room with a functional AC. However, even their functional AC on max isn’t capable of really cooling down the room that much. Paid for half board so that I could have the convenience of having dinner at the hotel. Both lunch and dinner are the poorest buffets I have ever seen...2 star hotels offer better quality food. $40 (120 dinar) on top of your initial hotel fee ahead of time or 200 dinars at the door. You get 2 short buffet lines. One w/ salad, cake, fruit and another with rice, and meat. Here’s the funny part- drinks are not included (don’t mean alcohol) I got a coke and a water - charged me 12 dinars! You can get an excellent dinner outside for 50 dinar. Breakfast also poor. Coffee ran out and the waiter tipped the canister/grainy leftovers into a dirty cup for me. Overall a terrible hotel.

The hotel was excellent. It felt like a 5 star hotel. Breakfast included personally cooked omelettes, doughnuts (beignets) or pancakes. The swimming pool was very large and not too full. The beach was well maintained with sunshades and a bar/restaurant.

Extremely racist hotel staff, specially security, chasing my girlfriend (black) all day long, treating her like a prostitute and never stopping asking if she was hotel guest or not. Unacceptable and insulting behavior despite having many times repeated that we were traveling together. Other very noticeable fact is the extremely poor service. 1. At the pool, after having been asked 3 times by 3 different security agents if we were residing in hotel, we had to wait over 30min to see a waiter coming, removing the plates from previous guests on our table but wthout cleaning the table and leaving all food rests. Almost one hour to get one ice cream 2. At the pool again, when asking for towels, I was chocked seeing the employee going to the pile of dirty used towels trying to choose 2 not too dirty / wet and bringing them to us 3. Room service didn't deliver what I ordered To conclude, never go to this hotel if you have an African girlfriend and don't expect any service....

The property is in desperate need of some renovations and maintenance. There were 9 rooms in total in our group and some had better faculties than others. The soft furnishings need freshening. The towels are old and presumably had originally been white but now a murky grey colour. The bar staff were exceptional as out party from the hotel and 4 people from outside met at least twice a day there for meals and drinks, they were most accommodating. The reception staff apart from a couple of nice ladies (sorry I cant remember your names) were inconsistent in their information and didn't seem to pass on to the next shift vital information about room requests and services. I would suggest you implement a better handover between shifts. There was also a lack of coordination between front desk and front gate security. We ordered taxis which were not being allowed to enter for security reasons one day, but the front didn't know this and just kept calling for more, in the end after 40 minutes we walked to the main road. We were astonished to pay a supplement for 2 people in double room. The breakfast buffet is very poor selection and needs updating ad the coffee in there undrinkable. We had a good time because we had a great group of friends, but customer service was definitely lacking. Please can you supply more credit card charge machines for your team there, they struggled to work with one machine between reception, bar and restaurants with porters running round with it.

Fabulous! Looking forward to my next stay!
Was only here for one night mid May but am absolutely looking forward to staying again! The property is very nice and well maintained. The indoor pool is nice and warm with slides. The big one is out of commission tho. Theres also an outdoor pool and well kept beach. Staff very pleasant and the rooms and public areas are very clean. You can see they take care of the hotel! The bed was so comfortable and was nice to have a bathrobe and slippers in the room. Cant speak to food as we didn't eat on-site as La Marsa is not far, 10 min drive. We loved some of the decorations, lots of mirrors, beautiful chairs and wardrobes scattered throughout the hotel. Just walk around, relax, have a little fun and enjoy. Great property!

Oh...never again.
Reception was not friendly and was extremely slow. It felt like we were an imposition. Tried to charge us twice for a room we had already booked and paid for through Expedia. Food was poor, very little variety. Unable to access the beach, or the restaurant on the beach in the evening, as the hotel locked the gate. The patio doors had no locks on them leaving our room unsecured. The padlock on the main door was ready to fall off it's hinges. Nothing for entertainment in the evening. No drinking water in the room. Beach towels were difficult to access, very tawdry and stained.

The hotel is not worth 5 stars hotel , it,s like 3 stars hotel. Many facilities are missing , the good things are location , close the beach with 2 huge swimming pools , but the breakfast is bad , hotel staff not friendly , room has no iron , only one towel , the tap is rusty and so old ,

Wonderful staff and beautiful hotel
Great spa great breakfast but the room was a bit smelly and the private beach was not really taken care of

Do not give give your credit card , tbey charged so many things until Capitol one canceled my card for fraud

Terrible !
At first my wife and I thought this hotel was worth the 5 star rating, however the customer service we received is not what we expected. We were treated with disrespect and we felt unwelcome. Reception seemed like they had better things to do and even threatened us with security at one point. Fortunately when we voiced out concerns to the manager he was apologetic but nevertheless the experience left me very upset and angry. Even though the room was big and clean, the breakfast was adequate, not the quality you would want from a 5 star establishment. I find it very unlikely to recommend this hotel to any of my family or friends.
