descent hotel

Posted 23-Jun-2015
Hotel experience with the location and building was good. The night staff was terrible specifically girl in the front desk. She was rude and not welcoming. I also observed her being rude to others customers. Lady in the morning was great, however I don't think I will stay here again due to management feeling the girl at night shift was competent in providing customer service .

Nice Hotel with balconies so you can sit outside.

Posted 21-Jun-2015
Pros: The balcony and location.
Cons: The lobby restrooms were always locked. It would be nice if they could be opened with a hotel key.
Location: It is directly across from the beach. Pleasure Pier is close by and there are restaurants within walking distance.
We enjoyed sitting on the balcony, listening to the ocean, watching the birds, and seeing the surf roll in. It is a short walk across the street to a beach entrance. The staff was quick to suggest places to eat, when asked. They also quickly fixed a small problem we had with the room. Overall, a very nice place and location.

Nice hotel right on the beach

Noticed the hotel had fresh paint since I was there last. Very clean and comfortable. Close to all bars restaurants and shopping. I'd say 5 of 5 especially for the price.

A little too loud.

Posted 13-May-2015
The hotel is right bext to a bar. The balcony outside our room is right next to the street so you could hear all the motorcycles showing up. The bar is so close you can even hear the people talking outside. The hotel was clean but i would not recommend staying here to anyone if theyre staying more than a day unless theyre use to loud noise while trying to sleep.

Whole place smells like roach spray

Posted 10-May-2015
Pros: Location near the beach.
Cons: Short of knocking it down and rebuilding a new, modern hotel; I don't know.
Location: The sea wall on Galveston, was kind of devoid of quality activities, but downtown near the cruise ship port has a more upscale feel.
Besides the newly renovated front lobby area, the whole hotel seems run down as is the area around the Galveston sea wall. Room feels really institutional as opposed to vacation-like, due to choice of building materials like windowless, heavy, steel door on balcony with industrial lock set, multiple layers of old paint on walls, thick, heavy, block-like granite in bathroom. Bathrooms on first floor kept locked, you need to go to the front desk to get the key. Room was not clean, found dirty socks and cheap pink sunglasses under bed. Hotel is a block away from a restaurant / bar that was packed with what appeared to be a rowdy biker gang when my family and I walked past it along the sea wall.

Close to the beach and Pleasure pier

Posted 27-Apr-2015
My experience was good I would stay here again. Just not for the price of $320 including taxes. I didn't eat the breakfast due to we slept late, but overall it was clean. Just not worth what I paid. Our remote control didn't work. I stayed there to go to the reggae fest

Decent hotel for a short trip. Night staff was helpful, breakfast limited. My room had a partial view of the beach and I could see pleasure pier. There was a bachelorette party on my floor the night I stayed but the hotel was full so I couldn't change rooms. The night concierge got me some earplugs and I had a peaceful night's rest. The room was older but nice and clean enough.
