Beautiful lodge in lovely grounds with garden and swimming pool; was a nice surprise as did not know what to expect. Specious comfortable bedroom with tea and coffee making facilities, shower, aircon, french doors, nice bed. Proprietor and staff very helpful, recommended a driver who drove me around town for 2 hours; 15 min from the airport. Was very comfortable and felt secure. Had to leave early to catch a morning flight so didn't have a chance to have breakfast (wasn't offered an alternative, which is my only gripe). Would recommend.

This is an excellently run hotel with very friendly staff that goes the extra mile. I was upgraded to a suite, which has king-size beds and is very quiet, as I like it. The hotel provides a free airport shuttle, not all do. Moreover, when my luggage did not make it from Johannesburg to Gaborone, I was given some cosmetics and again taken to the airport next day (in Botswana airlines do not deliver to hotels, the poor passenger has to return). Reception staff always gives advice with regard to sightseeing, calls game reserves and other places, and negotiates with them if necessary. You will need a car to get to the city centre or any other place, because Gaborone is not a compact city, but the hotels helps with everything. Great place!

I last visited the President Hotel (Cresta Marakanelo) in the late '80s and stayed at the hotel for a few days. I liked it then. When I came back to Gaborone this time I chose to go back to the President Hotel. It is central and has a number of facilities/services/amenities in the Main Mall which I found to be quite useful. The staff are pleasant and they made my stay quite enjoyable.

"Lansmore - best place to go if visiting Gaborone"
This was a very good experience on the whole, the staff were very attentive and friendly. The hotel was clean , modern, good breakfast. The only issue is the sound of some bar blasting music into the inner courtyard the hotel shares with a mall. This noise goes onto 11am on some weeknights and later at the weekend. If you have an inner facing room the noise is unavoidable and if you are having trouble sleeping (due to jet lag) it is a real pain.
There was a light that would not turn off in my room the first night. I contacted the front desk the next morning and they sent someone up to fix this, however the following night it was on all night again. Second time they tried they figured it out.

Several things fell short of what I expected, given the price. The AC unit in my room was noisy and leaking when I arrived (this had been noted by the previous occupant, but the notice was still in the room and nothing had been done to fix it.) It took them three days to move me to another room. There is no business center in the hotel, so no computer and no printing available for guest use. There is a wireless network, but you have to be in the lobby area to use it- there is no signal in the rooms area, regardless of what is advertised. Plus, it is unduly expensive. Also, the reception staff was not always as professional as they should be. A couple of times when I was at the reception, they talked amongst themselves in Setswana (which I do not speak or understand) and laughed. Additionally, an Internet voucher I bought was supposedly for 48 hours, but it expired within 24 hours. Lastly, one morning I went to the restaurant for breakfast and found all the food uncovered and flies on the cereal. So, all in all, I would say that it's not all that great value for the money.
