“Hotel at a marina.”
We stayed for a show at Jones Beach. Hotel has been shoddily remodeled. Bathroom door fell off it's hinges. No decks for lounging. Just a hotel at a marina.
“Lovely Hotel Lacking Good Service”
We stayed at the Freeport Inn & Marina on Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. The hotel is completely redone, with a modern take on 1940's style and very cute. The Patio is a great hangout spot for drinks or appetizers, though we were shocked to see Manhattan prices in Freeport with $12 cocktails. The basic room rate was a steal for a holiday weekend. The only disappointment was the service. The hotel was not nearly at capacity, and while we were checked in quickly, all visits to reception later on were with a woman with a snide attitude working reception. Calls to the reception office were never answered. The complimentary breakfast included only a plate of bagels, a toaster, cream cheese, butter, coffee, and orange juice. We weren't expecting an omelet station, but some yogurt or fresh fruit would have been nice. Without a car we were able to walk to the nautical mile and to the Freeport station to go to Jones Beach. I would recommend this hotel to those willing to put up with lacking service for a comfortable, clean room and a great location.
“Rank Reno”
This motel was recently renovated per the description, yet it is a good example of a job done poorly. This motel, its renovation and service was done everything on the cheap. The furniture is very cheap and already starting to show wear. We had to dust the lampshades over the bed since they were covered in dust and webs. The only bright spot was the shower, which was large had a riverstone floor, glass doors. The materials and products used for everything else were the cheapest you could find. The towels felt like rags. Even the "continental breakfast" had the cheapest paper plates you could find, with the cheapest styrofoam cups. The only bright spot was the "Patio" bar and grill. Nice spot next to the marina, with a number of firepits. Our choice of this motel was due to the location, since we needed to be on the South Shore. The price seemed reasonable and the pictures looked good. The pictures must have been the only thing they had done professionally.
“Hotel is over-rated”
Hotel is over-rated 1) Cable TV - kept losing all channels. 2) Bathroom sink piping leaked water all over bathroom floor. 3) Sink in hallway very slow draining. 4) Beds were not comfortable 5) Cleanliness was average.
“Needed a place to stay...and had no choice”
My husband and I needed a place to stay at short notice for a business trip. This was labor day weekend, the US Open, and right after Hurricane Irene hit Long Island. Due to the busy weekend and the fact that several locals were staying in hotels because they still didn't have power, nearly every single hotel on Long Island was at capacity. And we had to choose the Freeport Inn. There's the back story.... The pictures online look great...but buyer beware. The majority of the rooms do not look this nice. We booked a "deluxe king room" so I expected our room to look like one of the photos. It didn't. It was easily one of the worst rooms I have stayed in (but the bathroom was nice). We walked into the room and it smelled of fresh paint and was stuffy. I wanted to open the window so I could ventilate the room, but the window didn't open, and I didn't feel comfortable leaving the door open. The next thing I did was to turn down the sheets. Not only did the sheets not match, but I found an aunt crawling on the sheets and a stray hair. I was upset but my husband said it's only one aunt. After I saw another two ants crawling around, I called the front desk to see if we could switch to a better room but they were all full. However, Paul at the front desk was very accommodating. In short, I did try to find another hotel (willing to eat the money I spent on this hotel) but there was no other option. I did have to take a Xanax to be able to sleep though...
“lower your expectations”
The said marina is really a creek. The carpet is worn and dirty as you enter the room and there were several missing bulbs throughout the room. Very basic accommodations and the rooms are accessible from the outside with an old fashioned regular key!
“Move on!”
Room was not finished renovation. Bathroom was new but incomplete. Bedroom outlets had no covers but beds were new. TV Dish service poor signal. Breakfast was coffee & bagel, no place to sit. Area seems clean and safe. No hangars in room, closet was in bathroom but no door so steam was an issue on clothes. No towel racks or hangers. No clock or radio. Furniture came from a junk sale. Score a 2 star at tops.
“it was a nightmare, never come back again!!”
The worst place I have ever been. I have been in different hotels in NJ and NY recently with the same price but this one was horrible. The room smell was awful, my baggage and all stuff got the smell which was like a cheep cleaning materials and my nose and throat was burning. the room's doors all were opened to the out side of the building and it had just one locker which in my opinion was not enough for the safety. there was noting to eat for breakfast, an open bowl of cream cheese with finger tip signs all around the bowl and cheese, like s.o. tried to give shape to the cheese. At 2:30am a very load music sound, screaming and laughing was shaking the windows and it last until 5am. I had a meeting on next morning, I tried to call the front desk but there was no contact information in the room and I didn't feel safe to leave the room so I stayed awake all the night and waited for the morning to get the hell out of that place. not a good place even for business trip!!
“Old bare motel”
Must have been built in the 50's and never really upgraded. Would not stay here again. We were very surprised at the low ameneties this hotel offered. "continental breakfast" was one plate of low cost prepackaged coffee cake, there was no wi-fi to the rooms, and no shampoo provided. On top of very expensive rates they charge for a bowl of ice.
