“Convenient and clen”
My first return to Frankfurt in 40 years and was not disappointed. Hotel was adjacent to the main railway station which made location easy to find. Staff were helpful and rooms, although not luxurious, were clean and more than adequate. Nearby restaurants thin on the ground, but a good meal can be obtained from the nearby Thai restaurant - good food and service. Pleasant walk to river Main and museums. Will stay here again.
“Good for Business Travel”
Monopol rates best for location - less than 1oom outside the south exit of the train station. The check-in staff is very friendly and accomodating. The price is all-inclusive of breakfast, day-time snack bar, free minibar, and internet service. The internet service has 3 stations - two with a LAN for notebook PCs and one with a desktop PC. The bathroom in my room was newly remodeled with very good fixtures and marble tile. In terms of the physical facility, however, this is a clone of all other small German hotels - small beds with thin matresses, small TV, a really small shower, and boring food. There are no pillow-top matresses at this price point in Germany. That's not a complaint, just a recognition of the local market.
“very convenient, 100 years old, but extremely nice, right across from the railroad station!”
This room was quiet, and comfortable, the room was fairly good sized, had a desk, and closet, and on the window ledge, there was a device with sharp prongs, to keep pigeons from roosting there, a great invention! I hadn't seen this before. the offerings of shampoo, and bath soap, didn't include body lotion, I told the management about it, on a ratings sheet. The breakfast was copious, included in price, and only the scrambled eggs, were not especially good, in my opinion. the convenience and price of the hotel were exceptional, the desk personnel were very helpful and kind. I would be glad to return to this hotel and stay several weeks, it would be very convenient for train sightseeing of all of Germany, as it's just across the st. from the railroad station. I could have taken the train to the airport, but decided to be "lazy" and take a taxi instead, as i would have had to change trains, with my luggage.
“great service from the hotel staff”
the staff was wonderful...free breakfast every morning...the staff was so helpful with assisting us
“Never again”
What a disappointment! The pictures and description on Expedia did not match what I just experienced at The Monopol last week. The location is convenient but the area is fairly run down and dirty as is the case with most properties in close proximity to a train station. The place is not air-conditioned and we just absolutely baked at night. The room was on the street so opening the windows to get a little air was a disaster as the noise from the street went on every night till after 4AM. The tiny breakfast table was a joke and the lobby "bar" was never staffed. This is a hotel that deserves one star at best not three. Stay away during hot weather or you'll be miserable here.
