It was lots of expensive fee at checkout. (Some fee I was aware and some I was not aware of)

The Shell Resort

"Unique Conversion Near the Beach"
The Shell is not quite a "resort", but has some unique charm. If you're looking for the Hyatt, go to the Hyatt. But if you want to experience an older, but quaint hotel near the beach, Shell is for you. It seems to have been an apartment building converted to hotel. But that in itself is unique and allows the imagination to flow imagining how it "used to be". Although older, it's very clean and only 1 block to the beach. In fact, you can see the ocean from the second floor balcony. The pool is crystal clear and well maintained. Be sure to bring a hair dryer and ask for an iron before 8pm. No room service here, but take advantage of the many great restaurants within walking distance. For the price, and with the right expectations, the Shell is a little gem.

"Within walking distance of several good restaurant"
Mostly a very good place to stay, but the shuttle service from the airport to the hotel was terrible. I waited almost one hour in 90 degree heat before they came to pick me up, plus I had to call them twice.

"More expensive than you think "
Perfect facilities, pool, beach, common areas. Excellent service and great location. Spent 6 days there in June of 2015. Buy/bring your own beach chairs and umbrella if staying more than 2 days. Rental fees on the beach are absurd. Go to a local CVS, Walgreens etc. buy a chair or two and if you can't take them home with you give them away. Location is very good. Lots of stores/bars w/in walking distance or you can take a free trolley. Parking is valet ONLY so you are looking at about 36$ per day plus tips. If you are are going for more than a couple of days you will want to have a car. There is much to do within 20 minutes driving distance.

From check in to sad departure all was lovely! Front porch with rocking chairs and tables for meals right on the beach made this girl extra special.

Do your kids, like so many others, love butterflies and bugs? If the answer is yes, head down to Butterfly World.

It’s no accident that Butterfly World is wide in scope and meant for you to linger. Founder Ronald Boender was so inspired during his visits to butterfly houses in Europe that he came back to the States to create America’s very first butterfly house. These days, the park isn’t just home to hundreds of butterflies; it’s also the country’s biggest hummingbird aviary. For splatter of colour of a different variety, make your way to the Young At Art Museum. This hands-on art museum allows kids to build sand castles, paint masterpieces, and create their own puppets. It’s a popular spot for both visitors and locals, so you’re sure to meet fellow parents making new memories for their kids. If Sally and Johnny want to make sand castles on the actual beach, take them to Crandon Park. This is widely considered the best beach for families and is close to a splash foundation and playground as well as the waves.

When you’re ready to wash the sand off, head back to your family-friendly hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Whether you need a large suite to fit all of the kids’ stuff or a locale near the attractions, book a cheap deal on a hotel in Fort Lauderdale right here on Expedia.ca.

Skip yet another night in front of a screen and travel down to the land of surf and sea for a vacation the kids will never forget.
