“Good place to break up the trip to the Keys”
The rooms are very spacious and the screened patio (with ceiling fan) was a plus. The accommodation would be good for a longer stay than our 2 nights as there was a full sized fridge but lacked sufficient eating utensils; the microwave was handy, as was the guest laundry. Grounds were tidy albeit a little stark with large stretches of the crushed coral "sand" so it would be quite hot in summer. Don't be misled by the reception staff when trying to find grocery options however: we were told to drive 9 miles north when there were perfectly adequate options both north and south within a 1km radius! Not much on Islamodara itself, but the drive to Key West was well worth it. Do the Old Trolley tours - superb and entertaining!!!! Sunset drinks on the pier are very popular so get your table early (around 4:30pm).
“GREAT!!!”
We loved our stay and would love to go back! We enjoyed our time here and couldn't be happier with our experience!
“Islander Resort Islamorada”
An honest overview from seasoned users of the Keys, first impression was with caution as we had a room near the maintenance area and away from the pool. On entering could not fault the cleanleness tidyness and equipment within the room. Outlook from patio was onto palm trees and garden and barbeque facilities. Could not fault the room or service provided. The pools and surrounding area were immaculate. Breakfast was ample with good selection, situated in clean surroundings adjacent to the reception area. Hired pedal cycles and canoe all at reasonable cost, also fished from jetty at night I can say This is a good resort and reception even helped to confirm return flights after 14 day stay Top marks for this location
“Far exceeded my expectations.”
I knew this resort goes way back to the 60's. I was pleasantly surprised how well maintained the resort is. The rooms were spacious, clean quiet and had very comfortable beds. Even though we didn't do any major cooking it was really nice having a full kitchen. There is room for improvement. There wireless Internet was very frustrating and the breakfast even though it was convenient, it was quite lacking.
“we will be going back !!”
If your looking for a great place to stay in the florida keys stop looking and stay here !! My wife and i stayed here and it was the best time ever. The villa was unreal food was great staff was awsome. I cant think of one bad think about the islander resort. its a must see place !!
“Awesome time”
great location and my mom who is really picky loved the place.
“Good place wtih family”
I stayed here for 4 nights with my family. Very calm, nice environment, and good pools. Especially, my daughter (4-year-old) liked swimming pools and hot tub.
“Pleasantly Surprised”
We had a wonderful trip on my son's April break. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful (80's and sunny every day!) and the view from our courtyard room with lanai was of the Atlantic--the sunrises were amazing. The hotel room was decorated nicely and was very clean. The kitchen was fully equipped (stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, pots and pans, dishes, glasses and silverware). It was nice to not have to eat out for every meal and breakfast was complimentary. Breakfast included everything you could want except eggs and was quick and easy. We fished from the dock and caught puffer fish, beracuda and many other kinds of fish--a nurse shark was even caught from the dock! We also snorkeled but should have remembered to bring water shoes. It is very rocky but we still had fun. This resort has so many things to do we couldn't get to everything. The pool area is beautiful and very relaxing. The only complaint we had was that the bathroom window really needs some blinds or curtains. The windows are frosted but you still feel like you do not have enough privacy but other than that it was a wonderful place to stay. When you drive up to the hotel it looks a little dated but the rooms are very nice and modern. You have plenty of room and the grounds are nicely taken care of. The food was excellent from the restaurant--we ordered it to go and ate in our lanai. You have to try the chocolate cake! We will definitely be back and would rate it four stars!
“Will return to the Islander”
We regret that we only planned 3 days at the Islander because we didn't have time to take advantage of their great facilities: 2 beautiful pools, a beach, water sports like snorkeling, etc. Our room included a kitchen with everything, including a dishwasher. The room also included a screened porch that opened on to a courtyard, with a short walk to the pool/restaurant/bar area. Only downside is that the porch side of the room can't be locked. You must exit the room from the parking lot side if you want to lock the room. Also, late January was a little too cool for swimming. Restaurant is very, very good!
“Great hotel in Islamorada”
Great hotel in Islamorada. Pool area was very nice and beach area was very clean. Nice pool bar and great breakfast in lobby. Family oriented but nice for couples too.
