Beautiful, New, Modern Hotel

Posted 24-Mar-2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: The late night staff was somewhat lacking in knowledge about the thermostat controls, front desk staff was vague in explaining "room credit"
Location: Centrally located in the keys, all water activities nearby. Highly recommend Family Fun Boat Tours and Lazy Days Restaurant!
All anyone could need in a beautiful tropical setting!

Fresh Clean Hotel with Friendly Staff

Posted 24-Mar-2015
Pros: We were the first people to stay in our room - a unique experience for sure!
Cons: There was a spot for a minibar but it wasn't installed yet. Only one elevator available at this time. Workout area not open yet.
Location: Close to world class fishing, paddle boarding (go on backwater trip through mangrove tunnels), many great restaurants and gift shops
This hotel is a great place to stay in a great location right on the ocean. Main renovations are done and you hardly notice that they are still working on it. Only the 4th & 5th floors are currently open but the rooms that are complete are really nice. Lobby is clean and bright and very tastefully appointed - island feel with a luxury touch. Restaurants are open and the meals we had were exceptional. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Pool and beach area while small are really very nice. Location is great - close to everything in Islamorada.

$400 for below average room.

Don't recommend. $400 for a hundred doller room. Cold plain decor. Terrible design. Staff tries but paid $16 for raw burger swimming in secret sauce at Tiki Bar. Bartender terrible.

Nice hotel!

Posted 14-Mar-2015
Pros: Friendly staff, nice renovation, nice rooms and GREAT food!!
Cons: Hotel needs: -a fridge in the rooms -a gym -vending snack machine -larger pool -completing renovation asap!
Location: You will definitely need a rental car if you are staying in this hotel. Not much around to walk to. Very low key area compared to Key West.
My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel (March 2015). It had just went under renovation (currently still in the process since all floors were not accessible). The decor is VERY nice and modern! From the moment you walk into the lobby, you feel like you stepped into an upscale hotel. You have clear views from the lobby of the ocean. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was on the top floor (5th) with an ocean view and view of the pool. The room had a very nice tile with very comfortable bedding and a frameless shower. If you are not staying at this hotel you must dine at Amara Cay. The FOOD is PHENOMENAL!!!! Especially the jerk chicken sandwich and their key lime pie!!! Not much to do in the immediate area, so you definitely want a rental car. Given that the hotel is not completely finished with their renovations, the cost seemed very low. Once it is complete, I am guessing the price will go up a lot. We would definitely stay at this hotel again :).

A great place to stay. Recently renovated.

Posted 13-Mar-2015
Pros: New and modern, comfortable. Friendly staff. The ocean view.
Cons: I believe they were not quite done furnishing the place when we stayed. A few rugs would be nice, and a microwave would be good.
Location: Numerous snorkeling, fishing, diving companies. State parks with trails. We rented a kayak and explored the mangrove swamps. Annie's beach is free.
We didn't realize at booking that the hotel wasn't open yet, and only opened about a week before we arrived. There were several areas still under construction and the banging and sawing at what was very early for us (because of the time zone difference) was not so appreciated. However, they upgraded us to a suite upon arrival so we didn't complain, and they'll no doubt be finished by the time you read this review.

Brand New Hotel Expectations Exceeded

Posted 13-Mar-2015
My family and I drove down to the keys for the weekend, and rented a room at Amara Cay. I am usually very peaky about the places I stay at so I was a little skeptical, but to my surprise the hotel was amazing! The hotel had just opened 2 days before we got there. Needless to say that besides the wonderful fact that everything was brand new, the theme decor was beautiful, the service was incredible, super friendly and helpful staff. The small beach area in the back was a beautiful work of art.... I definitely recommend this place, and will most definitely go back!!

Great Hotel with potential

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Pros: Fully renovated. Great food at restaurant and breakfast area. Good quality. Pool was heated a great plus.
Cons: Just had open, were still working on twicking various small items. Like new coffee machines.Etc
Location: Many things to do. From dinning to all types of sea sports. Great location.
Hotel is under going full remodel. Should be up and running 100% by May. Many areas weren't accessible. All other areas in great shape. Very modern and art deco. Love the hotel, will stay again. 10 plus in restaurant and breakfast area. Great food.

Comfortable hotel with great beach

Posted 22-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel had very comfy beds and nice, spacious rooms decorated in typical island fashion. Although we were warned that substantial renovations were going on, we barely noticed as it was very quiet in our room all morning. This property has a great beach area with hammocks and lounge chairs, as well as a sizeable pool and leaf-shaded outdoor jacuzzi. The staff at reception are all very nice, personable, and incredibly helpful. One really cool thing is that this hotel is walking distance (surprising for the Keys) from Lazy Days, a popular, oceanfront restaurant specializing in seafood with terrace and beach-side seating options.
