“Historic Palazzo in convenient loction but away from the crowds”
This historic building is an easy walk into the heart of Florence but away from the throngs. Great views from patios (loggias). Lots of restaurants, major sites, craft shops nearby. Although it was across the river from "the heart" of Florence, there were actually a lot of sites, parks and museums nearby. The plaza the hotel was on looked a bit seedy but actually was surrounded by a major historic church, a number of restaurants and shops, and housed a daily outdoor clothing and fruit market. Room and bath were exceptionally large and comfortable, comfortable lounge areas. Terrific ceiling frescos in most rooms. Continental Breakfast ok - the usual rolls, beverage, cheese, fruit and yogurt - but plenty to eat and good coffee. WiFi actually worked. Staff (mostly English speaking) were very helpful and responded quickly if I needed something or help.
“Ideal”
The perfect small, family run, friendly hotel in the heart of Florence. Quirky but well furnished and comfortable rooms. A superb view from the terrace. A decent breakfast. All within a couple of hundred yards of the Ponte Vecchio and the Pitti. Just don't be put off by the entrance: a couple of heavy, double doors leading into a shared court. The hotel occupies the top two floors of of an old building. One has to take the lift to reception otherwise it's 100 steps.
“A home away from home!”
Staff was genuinely kind and went out of their way to make our stay as lovely as possible. The room was quiet and comfortable, the bathroom was immaculate. The location was very convenient to the ponte vecchio. The breakfast every morning was delightful with tasty pastries and freshly made cappuccinos. Would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family staying in Florence!!
“place to be”
hotel is very confortable, charming and location wise recommended. I will sure come back on my next vacation in Florence. Excellent choice for special events like honeymoon. Lovely
“An old palace nicely located”
This hotel is nicely located near the famous bridge. In the morning, the place is packed with merchants and during evening, restaurants customers are numerous. Noisy but lively. A bit hard to find, the elevator is a must. The hotel is an old palace. The terrace has a beautiful view (2 sides of the building). Breakfast was excellent, nice service .Recommended.
“florence in october”
The weather was fantastic, but I was still surprised how crowded the city was. Overtall the Hotel was great, in a great location,Incrediuble wrap around balcony, great location, Lots Of Charm. Staff was extremely nice and helpful!!!!!! Only a couple of issues. The rooms do not have clocks or phones. Make sure you have a cell phone that is working!!!!! We had to have a person from the Hotel knock on our door for a wakeup call on our last day. I brought my handicapped Mom and this was a small issue. Our room was between the floors that the elevator serviced. This meant that we had to walk up or down a flight of stairs to get to our room. This was very hard for my Mom. If that is an issue, make sure you get a room on the top/main floor where you only have to walk up a few steps. Overall a really neat place to stay, well worth a try.
“Take EM Forster's advice & get a room with a view”
Constant presence of rough street drinkers outside hotel entrance was off-putting. We had a room without a view, chilly and damp. LOVELY terrace and lovely staff
