They were helpful enough, but the room decor was very strange. Additionally, the small room’s air conditioner didn’t work, and the bathroom was very cave-like, as you could tell it didn’t originally exist.

Nice place to stay during your vacation. Location of the hotel is a plus factor, very near to the train station, as well as with the tour places.

The room was very spacious for 4 people, and the location is ideal for travel by train, as it is less than a 5 minute walk from the train station. Distance to the major tourist attractions is a bit farther but totally walkable. The staff is very friendly and we’re very accommodating when we arrived prior to checking time. My only suggested improvement would be a safe in the t’room to lock up valuables, and also a bottle opener and glasses, but again staff was accommodating with supplying glasses. Overall an excellent staff in a spectacular city.

Totally good for a short stay in Florence - short walk and easy to find from train station (I arrived very late). 15 mins walk to a lot of the main city centre sights. Staff helpful when asked for information. I enjoyed the cake and coffee breakfast.

I would go there again.
All of the folks were very helpful and courteous. The wifi could have been better but it seemed to be dependent on the time I was using it. It was clean and had been recently renovated.

It needs a little TLC, but it serves the purpose for the amount of time that you spend in the room. Very close to the center of Florence.

Wonderful stay! The concierge was extremely helpful and printed documents forms! We were late to breakfast and they still made us godchild and coffee! I highly recommend! Excellent location close to everything.

Convenient location
The hotel is a a couple hundred meters from Firenze S.M.N. Station so it is very convenient. We stayed here to make our trip to the airport easier for a 6:30 am flight. It was easy to find and the appearance is clean. The rooms are decently sized. The elevator is useful, especially if you have luggage. The air conditioning in both of our rooms did not work; the units turned on and blew a bit of cool air but not enough to cool a room. They were clearly old and probably had not been maintained in years. Consequently, my wife told the guy that the air conditioning didn’t work asked if the hotel had any fans and that we could use. The worker said something to the effect of “that sucks, yeah we have fans. Oh, not really, we don’t have any. Open the window.” Right...

Poor sign makes it hard to find. Hallway smells. No air conditioning and luggage rack. Very noisy. No safe. It’s has 3 different hotels on each floor with 10 units. Put two twin beds together. Tv didn’t work.

Like a lot of hotels in tourist areas of Italy this hotel could do with a renovation. The room had an offensive smell to it (like someone had spilt a couple of bottles of a foul smelling cheap perfume) and the staff were unable to accommodate in changing the room, as they said they were fully booked. Located the problem to be in the bathroom. Kept the windows opened all day to aerate the room, and closed the bathroom door when I was in the room, and that helped contain the odour to the bathroom only. Having said that, the bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom clean. Lovely breakfast included. 5 minute walk from Florence’s main train station Santa Maria Novella and 10 minutes walk (max) to the Duomo.

Quiet and quaint, near train station
Welcoming and helpful staff. We booked last minute, for one night, after missing last train to Rome. Rooms are outdated, but spacious with modern European bathrooms. Breakfast is varied and tasty. Quiet and clean place for one night. TV had to be changed manually because the remote stopped working. Fridge in room, items inside are not complimentary. Rugs on the tile floors would make the rooms cozy and less basic. Mosquito plug-ins available, as well as select iPhone and Android adapters and chargers for the night.

Staff: 5/5 (Good helpful and friendly staff) Location: 5/5 (Near train station and different touristic sites) Breakfast: 4/5 (Good options, but limited healthy choices) Cleanliness: 5/5 (Clean rooms and bathrooms) Facilities: 1/5 (No common areas to sit, and the hotel is on the two floors above the ground and the elevator is very old, tiny and can barely carry 2 people as if even 1 more person gets in; the elevator gets stuck between 2 floors)

Excellent staff. Josef seems to do everything at this hotel, he is amazing. The hotel is much more of a motel. It is located very near the train station (which is great) but the area is a bit shady. There is a lot of homeless people at the corner of the street and it is nit inviting. I honestly didn’t feel safe on the street. You have to drag your luggage up a floor to access the elevator, which only hold 3 people. The ‘hotel’ is on one floor of a building, the other floors are also ‘hotels’. The room is old and bare, the bathroom is very old and small, the tv is tiny (11 inches?) and only has Italian channels. Breakfast features prepackaged items and stale croissants. On our last day the hotel (the whole street to be fair) had no water all day. We were miserable and spent the least amount of time possible in our room.

Location & staff are good. Hotel is old but clean.
It’s more of a hostel. The building and rooms are very old and a little shabby. However, the service and staff are super friendly! The location is beyond perfect as it is a walking distance from tourist attractions and most importantly the train station.

Great location around the corner from the train station. The staff were friendly, helpful and someone was there 24/7. The room was spacious for a family of 4, the bathroom was updated and clean. Breakfast was great; sliced meats, cheese, youguet, cereal and wonderful pastries. The coffee machine made espresso, cappuccino, hot chicolate and other drinks and the setting was lovely. We would definitely stay there again!

Too noisy
A review should be honest to help other travellers. I don't like to give a bad review but the truth is our stay was not good. We didn't get much sleep both nights due to the noise from the surrounding rooms and the hallway. We soon realised the people in the other rooms were not shouting, just talking relatively loudly. We could hear toilets being flushed too. The walls must be paper thin! The one thing you want from a room is to be able to get a good night's sleep and that was not the case. The water was also lukewarm in the shower. On a more positive note, the staff were really friendly, the buffet breakfast is good and the hotel is close to the railway station. Sorry but the above represents our stay.

We made personally the pictures, of course if you are looking at a Room with Balcony and you book the economy you will not find the room that you have seen. Very nice hotel close to very thing. Staff very friendly the room was very spacious. Even thought it is on the second floor it is easy to get to. We liked that had good break fast. It is next to rail station and central markets. Very thing is within easy walking distance we would recommend this hotel people a budget. We were able too walk around the area at night and feel safe. Every thing worked well in the room. The breakfast came egg and ham cheeses

Fabulous time in Firenze
Lovely traditional hotel close to SMN station and within easy walking distance of city centre. Very friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful hotel with marble, wood panelling and artistic stained glass, very clean and well-equipped rooms with traditional fittings and furnishings. Lovely breakfast every day. This is the second time at Hotel Desiree and we would heartily recommend it.

Good base for travelling to Florence
The hotel is in an old building but the interior has been renovated to a good standard. The elevator is ancient and rather lovely to experience. A real trip back in time with manually operated doors. The baroque chairs and sofa in the hall continues the atmosphere. The room we had was modern comfortable and adequate for our needs with a quiet air conditioner and en-suite shower. The reception persons were friendly and helpful. Very convent to the railway station and they looked after our bags until we were ready to catch the train in the afternoon. We would stay there again.
