Rooms
In the heart of Florence, in a prestigious 13th century building, you will find the exclusive "Residenze d'Epoca" named: "Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni n° 1" and the "Palazzo Gianfigliazzi". The historic building, which belonged to the Gianfigliazzi family until the end of the 18th century, hosted numerous important historical figures. At the beginning of the 20th century, the palace was transformed into a "Piccioli Guesthouse", quickly becoming a favourite residence of the English aristocrats and literati that loved the atmosphere of Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance and the Sweet New Style, with its churches, works of art and unique cultural climate.
After the Great War, the Piccioli Guesthouse was closed, but reopened in 2001 under the name "Antica Torre", which was later to become the "Palazzo Gianfigliazzi" in 2008. Thanks to careful restoration work which preserved and brought back to life all of the buildings original appeal, the Via Tornabuoni palace acquired life and warmth once again. The magnificent complex is considered one of the historic "tower houses" of Medieval Florence, and it preserves to this day the original architectural characteristics. It is an admirable example of how man is capable of taking buildings which were once devised for the purposes of war into oasi of peace, culture and hospitality.
Guests of the "Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni n° 1" do not consider themselves simply clients, but special guests. They are surrounded by a unique atmosphere of charm and history, while at the same time enjoy an elegant and refined ambience, where the traditional fuses with the modern, offering a truly unforgettable stay.
The attention to detail and the warmth of the rooms make the "Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni n° 1" the premier choice when visiting the most beautiful city of art in Italy. This is emphasized, not only by the comfortable bedrooms, but also by the two magnificent terraces with their breathtaking panoramic views over the whole of Florence, which offer unforgettable emotional experiences.

“Incredible terrace”
My husband and I had an amazing stay at this hotel. We were treated well by the staff right from the start and personally shown to our room. We were also upgraded to a suite at no charge. The room was pretty large and nice and clean. Unfortunately they are doing some work on the front of the hotel so our window was partially covered, but that didn't really concern us because we knew we could look forward to the beautiful terrace. The two terraces are definitely the highlight of this hotel. I don't know where you could get a better view. One side faces the Duomo, while the other side faces the river. They have plenty of comfortable tables and chairs, and the honor bar is always stocked. A complimentary breakfast is also served on the terrace, which is really nice. The location also can't be beat - we were able to walk everywhere. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Florence.
“The terrace made our vacation”
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The terrace view is exceptional, and sitting up there with a glass of wine after a day of sight seeing was the best way to end a fabulous day. Our room was spotless, the beds firm but comfortable, and the breakfast very satisfying. All of the staff were friendly. Great neighborhood. I would highly reccommend this hotel.
“A new view of Florence”
My husband and I recently returned to Florence (a city we love and visit frequently). Staying at the Antica Torre gave us a completely different, yet still delightful, visit to the city. We would spend the mornings in museums or meetings and then after lunch we would return to the roof terrace with a class of wine and a good book. Sitting in the shade, watching the Arno or the Duomo, added a measure of peace and tranquility to our stay. We will never stay anywhere else in the future. Our room was small, but typically European, bath lovely. The staff was extremely gracious and helpful in all requests.
“One of the best views in Florence”
The room was amazing. Relatively large. Marble bathroom. Excellent decor. The best part of this hotel is the view from the Terrace on the top floor. Perhaps the best view in all of Florence. This is a great hotel for a romantic getaway!
“Fabulous hotel in fabulous city”
This was my second trip to Florence and this hotel made it perfect. Small, great location, wonderful roof terrace with awesome views. Very comfortable bed and bathroom. The staff was very helpful. I will return!
“Best view and best breakfast”
The room and the overall ambience of the hotel were all fantastic but the reception is only open for limited time and closes at 8/9PM at night. The main door is closed at 7PM so you have to make sure to carry your key otherwise you will be locked out... The view from the rooftop is amazing. The breakfast is very well prepared. Although it was unnecessary as it was late April, there was no air conditionning.
“Best view in Florence!”
We stayed here for 5 nights in June and this hotel was absolutely the best part of our experience in Florence. The rooftop terraces (one facing north and one facing south over the river) provide gorgeous views over all of the city and the surrounding hills. There is comfortable seating, an honour bar, a bartender prior to dinner and a complimentary breakfast buffet served here. It is a delightful space to start the day, rest during the afternoon or view the sunsets. Our room was exquisite, with designer wallpaper, wonderful beds, a luxurious and beautiful marble bathroom and a fantastic view overlooking the river. Breakfast was very good, the staff very professional and the location is ideal for walking to all the major sights. I suspect that when all the renovations are complete, this hotel rating will be upgraded, and it will be more expensive. It is a gem!
“Perfect place to stay in Florence”
My family stayed in two rooms in early July. The location is perfect, the rooms are very nice and the staff was extremely friendly. As mentioned in other reviews, the view from the terrace cannot be beat. Very relaxing to sit up there and watch the moon rise over Florance. Breakfast was awesome. We will stay here again.
“A lovely hotel”
We just stayed one night here, but the service was great and the restaurant was very nice.
“Very Nice Small Hotel”
Excellent location. Roof top terrace is outstanding with a panoramic view of the city. Breakfast also very nice. Highly recommend.
