“Loved It!”
Wonderful rooms, Great views, Charming town and Excellent service....What more could you ask? We enjoyed everything about this resort and town for our weekend golf trip. We are looking forward to returning soon.
“Well looked after”
We have just returned from St Andrews after a great stay at the hotel, the staff were most welcoming and helpful at all times - as the weather was pretty bad we probably used more of the facilities than we anticipated but that ended up as a bonus for us! This is a very well run hotel without being 'stuffy' or pretentious as can sometimes be the case. We were with a 9yr old who was very impressed with the teddy, robe and slippers that were already laid out on her bed when shown to our room - a very nice touch. Understandably there were not a lot of children at the hotel but ours was made to feel special by the staff, the only thing is that some of the restaurants/bars are not accessible to children in the evening, say after 8pm, but this did not detract from our time there and we are all very keen to go back.
“We Will Return!”
We had a wonderful time during our stay at the Old Course Hotel. I doubt there could be a better hotel or a better location at St. Andrews. The staff were friendly and helpful at every turn. The condition of the rooms was fantastic. We'll go back!
“Best Customer Service I've Ever Experienced”
This hotel was absolutely world class and I had high expectations going in. The staff was amazing from the front desk to the golf stewards to the room staff to the Kohler Water Spa. The room was incedibly clean and if I ever picked up the phone to request an item or service I was immediately satisfied by a member of the staff. The golf was incredible and the Water Spa amazing. Of all the hotels I have visited in the US and Europe this is at the very top of my list.
“Perfect Accomodation”
Required a venue that had great access and views of the golf tournament and perfect to host a small '21st' birthday gathering. The Royal and Ancient suite was perfect for both. The general hotel was also of the highest quality.
“Fab birthday treat, can't wait to go back!!!”
This is a stunning hotel in a perfect location for golf lovers and for walking on the beach or into St Andrews. We went for my birthday and the staff could not have been nicer, wonderful. I can't wait to go back. PS, the spa is great too, well worth a visit.
“Exactly what you expect.”
Great hotel, great location. Everything first class. The food in the restaurant is the only negative. We had dinner in the Road Hole Grill and I think all their effort goes into presentation and they sort of forget about taste and quantity. Food looks great, tastse average and is in tiny, tiny servings. After dinner we had to go elsewhere to find something else to eat. Keep in mind we are not big eaters, but this was still not nearly enough. I realize this is a "fine dining" establishment but they have carried the small portion theme to an extreme. I'd stay there again but eat elsewhere.
“St. Andrews with a view”
This hotel was outstanding. The views are spectacular, staff extremely helpful and location central. There are many areas within the hotel to sit and have a drink, read or chat. Don't miss having tea in the Conservatory. Would return to St. Andrews just to stay at this hotel.
“Fair and honest review”
We love St Andrews and the Old Course Hotel, but unfortunately some of the furnishings and finishes are actually 'old'. The extraction fan in our bathroom didn't work so any hot water made it like a steam room. The mortar/fixing around the bathroom mirror had disintergrated and was in poor state. The bathroom taps moved when you turned them, so I reckon their fixing had perished too. The carpets on the internal stairswells were threadbare at the step edges and therefor a slip-risk. However the hairdryer was good and powerful, not one of those buzzy mosquito attempts. The Road Hole Bar, The Conservatory & the Library were closed for private functions. leaving only The Jigger Inn. Which is a nice place, but we were booked for casual lunch with our sons there the next day. Didn't want to spend all our time in one place! Our first morning the Road Hole restaurant was 'full' for breakfast and we were redirected to the Sands Grill. It was 3 star at best. There were no a la carte menus and the fayre on offer had been hanging about a while. Our toast, tea and coffee didn't appear and we had to re-order. As we were leaving a waitress suddenly asked if we would like anything from the a la carte! Yes we would have, but too late! The next day, we were again told the Road Hole was full for breakfast (even though we had gone down early). We said we would wait. It was better than the Sands Grill, but not marvelous. It was fine. Only fine. I still love the hotel, but 5 star? I doubt it.
“less than 5 star dining”
service in the restaurant for dinner was not 5 star at all.
