I enjoyed staying at the Red Lion - it was not my original hotel but since mine burnt down it seemed a good and financially viable alternative option. In the centre of Faringdon, there are plenty of cash points/restaurants/shops nearby, while the staff were helpful and supportive when necessary. Breakfast was simple but pleasant and the pub itself seemed nice and welcoming. The room was tidy and clean, the bed re-made in the day, and tea and coffee was provided.
On the negative side, I found it somewhat difficult to sleep because of an incessant buzzing from what I can only assume was a boiler or something near the front of the B&B accommodation, which was audible even when down the corridor with my door closed, and could be slightly heard with the TV on. I don't know if there's a solution but you might want to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper (as I am). I would also recommend that they leave soap on the sink in the bathroom!
Apart from those pernickety issues, I enjoyed my stay and (if the buzzing is addressed!) would happily stay again.
