“Magnifico !”
Magnifique cadre authentique (Marina de Horta, Pousada dans un fort du XVe, vue sur Pico, l'océan, ...) idéal pour ceux qui aiment le monde la navigation, les ports, la mer, les volcans. Du personnel jeune, avenant et très sympathique.
“Very Satisfied”
We had a great 8 day stay here. We took an Expedia deal and did not expect a sea view in the more expensive rooms but we had one. The room was clean and made every day and a chocolate left on the pillow each time! The breakfast was superb a mix of healthy and cooked options from a self service buffet with some of the best seed rolls we have ever had. Sure the restaurant was more expensive (esp drinks but what do you expect). There were several other dining options locally and we had a very good stay. The location 5 minutes from the marina was superb for fishing and whale watching charters

“Great location but some shortcomings”
A very well located hotel on the harbor in Horta in an old fort with a beautiful view of Pico across the channel. While the room was clean and comfortable, we were disturbed by being able to clearly hear a guest in the adjacent room, as well as even quiet noises in the hallway through the door. The pool area was nice and well maintained. We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant which was very disappointing with very overcooked duck and chicken, the latter smothered in an unpleasing sauce. There was only one waiter/server and he was overextended with just 3 or 4 parties in the dining room. Breakfast was also underwhelming with very poor service.
“Expensive for what you get!”
This was supposed to be our highlight to end our holiday - a night in the Pousada. What a disappointment. It was by far the most expensive hotel of our 3-week trip to the Azores, visiting four islands. Our room was small and dark (the wrong side of the hotel for the view of the port). The garden and pool area are small and there is only a view if you stand up and look through the fort turrets- or, if you ensure you get a sea-facing room with balcony. An umbrella/sun shade had blown into the pool and stayed there all day - so we could not have swum if we wanted to!. No staff came out in the hour I sat outside near to pool to ask if I needed a drink, etc.. On the positive side. The receptionist was very welcoming on arrival. However, we had to ask for the air conditioning to be fixed as the room was very hot and stuffy and we couldn't get it to work. No-one came or responded in the 24 hours we were at the hotel. We needed to leave early to catch our plane, and were glad to see that the breakfast had been laid out (not the cooked breakfast though) prior to 7.30 pm as we requested- so we helped ourselves - but saw no sign of staff anywhere (this was 7.15am so not that early!) All in all, because of the relative price of the hotel, not a good experience - apart from friendly reception staff.
