“Would definately recommend for a short stay”
We stayed here for one night as we were attending the wedding reception of a friend at Orsett Hall, only 5 minutes drive away by taxi. We were initially apprehensive about booking to stay at this hotel after reading some of the reviews, but decided to take the plunge as we left it quite late to book and found that there was not any availabilty in the hotels that were close to the reception. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised, the staff on reception were very friendly and professional and bent over backwards to ensure that our stay was a pleasant one. On entering our room (buisness friendly double) we were reIieved to find that our room and en-suite bathroom were newly decorated in an ultra modern style and immaculately clean. It seems that this hotel has undergone a major refurb, and served our purposes well. We booked our room with breakfast included, it was definately worth it as there was a good spread at the buffet style each as much as you like breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay and would recommend that reviews pre-refurb, which I am guessing occured in the early summer 2010 should be ignored. We found that all staff had a high level of customer service and made an extra effort to make our stay a pleasant one. Tip; book a buisness friendly room and you will be guaranteed a double bed. Some standard double rooms have two singles and not a double.
“Very impressed”
We were meeting up with friends in Grays and wanted somewhere to stay close by, with a view to fitting in a spot of shopping at Lakeside. The location of this hotel was perfect for both purposes. Our room was spotless, very comfortable and quiet, and the ensuite was sparkling. There was a wedding being held at the hotel which meant that we could not eat in the restaurant but we were able to eat in the bar from the restaurant menu which was fine for us. The food was very enjoyable and well presented and the breakfast buffet was very good - enough to set us up for a hard days shopping! All in all I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
“Basic, but does the job”
Except for the shocking lack of water pressure in the shower, we had a lovely trip. The staff were pleasant, the hotel easy to find, and the food very good. There is a massive shopping mall a few miles away. If you are looking for somewhere outside of the city but not too far, it's a good call. Hopefully the shower pressure will be fixed before we go back....
“Good hotel for shopping at Lakeside”
Breakfast buffet excellent. Room was bright and clean with balcony and beds were comfy. The bathroom was very modern. Hotel staff helpful. We stayed two nights, both nights had a wedding reception but no noise could be heard from the room.
“What a shower”
The matter to advise is the dreadfull shower. A mere dribble of water from a classy ceiling mounted head. Was it down to our room being on the first floor and a lack of head or a triuph of design over function, or both?
“Was value for money”
We arrived, I had not printed out my confirmation, their system said i had only booked a room not evening meal also. Their internet was down and we were beginning to have a confrontational converstaion. In the end i said we will go to the room and come down in 20 minutes, if you have not resolved it I will speak to the manager. The room was comfortable, clean but tired looking, as were some of the common areas. When i returned to reception the internet was working and we were able to resolve the issue and there were several apologies along the way. The eveing meal was a carvery, the vegetables were disapointing. I Was beginning to wish i had booked a room only, as i wondered what breakfast would be like. Breakfast was good and room service food was good too. All in all a pleasant stay was had. It was value for money if i was returning to the area i would use this venue again but not have an evening meal.
“Disappointing room.”
Bed was uncomfortable. Toilet did not flush on returning from a night out, and eventually worked in the morning. Bathroom was tiny. Noisy air conditioning unit.
“OK says it all”
The hotel was pleasant, although the beds were very soft!! We stayed in the older part of the hotel and I felt that it was quite dated, although it was clean, it needs to be brought into this century. Having said all of this it was satisfactory for a nights stay.
“Weekend Stay at the Park Inn”
I work in the travel industry and have tried to remain as neutral as possible. From the web pictures and the outside the Park Inn looks reasonable; with the grand white building looking clean and inviting. Getting inside is a very different experience; our room was like a throw back from the 70's; very poorly lit; no extraction frm the bathroom - so the whole place steamed up including the bedroom mirrors. The bed was very lumpy; like the springs had gone in the mattress...felt like a cheap entry level mattress from a 2nd hand shop!! On the contrasting upside; the bar had been refurbished; so the sofas were comfy - where we watched the 2008 Ryder Cup; the food too was good - I opted for the home-made burger - that was cooked to the ordered medium and was delicious. Breakfast the next day was just OK; things that let it down was the stunt we had to perform with the scorching plates (even with a wad of serviettes) and the fried eggs were uncooked (snotty on top) and the bacon - the quality of meat was good - but it was barely cooked. Again in their favour; the scrambled eggs and sausages was scrummy. Had to prompt a couple of times for more glasses to be delivered. yoghurt...only 2 were available!!, butter was stillhard!! All in all I would not reccommend the Park Inn.
“Won't be going back”
A group of us have been going to this hotel on and off for some years each year we have seen it go down but this year we have decided it will be our last, the rooms are clean but the hotel needs a good make over. The breakfast was awful.
