Best beds ever
We absolutely love this hotel and will definitely be back again. The staff were amazing, especially Mohammad in the restaurant and souad on reception. It was my husbands birthday and the hotel really made it special for him. The facilities are fantastic, from Golf to tennis and the hotel has a wonderful spa. Our only constructive criticism, is in some of the corridors the hotel needs a little maintenance/upgrade/decorating. Apart from that, everything is 100% fabulous. Food, location, all the staff, the grounds and the activities. Fabulous value for money. Finally the BEST bed we have ever slept in! Thank you. We will be back!

Before leaving for this trip my wife was getting concerned by the number of negative reviews for this hotel and yes there are a few areas needing a little TLC. BUT - the hotel is beautiful, the staff are amazing and friendly and it is a great place to relax. The main pool is great with plenty of loungers and cabanas. The restaurant is really good with evening buffet which has a huge array of food with a menu that range that changes regularly. But breakfast was one of the many highlights for my kids. They loved the variety of options and would frequently try and one up each other on the amount of different things they had. The games room was good fun with regular inter family table tennis tournaments but also has babyfoot and pool. We walked to the beach one day which was really nice as it was pretty much deserted. Would definitely recommend for a relaxed break. Ps they run a shuttle every hour to and from Essaouira

The property is beautiful and the pool is very relaxing and modern. The rooms are up to date but have a mild odor to them. Inside the hallways, there are scratches all over the wall and the floor needs refreshing. The paint is chipped. The staff at the front desk are not welcoming. We reserved for 2 rooms with a pool view, but had a room with a garden view instead.

I didn't like anything about this property ,food was horrible, service doesn't exist, managers are busy getting drunk and they didn't care about guests ,we were greeted by angry guests that recommended that we don't stay on this property. pictures are nothing like reality ,we will never comeback to this property very low standards especially for Americans that are used to a very high hospitality standards

The pictures is completely different to the reality. our room has a bad smell, cockroaches and flies loitering around, the amenities in the room are terrible and hardly clean. Our stay was fantastic. The rooms are contemporary and luxurious with a spacious comfy bed. The view of the ocean was wonderful to wake up to each morning. The breakfast was sensational, with such a wide variety of healthy and naughty freshly cooked and cold treats. The facilities were great, we made use of the quiet, clean gym, the spa and the games room with table tennis, pool, chess etc. The pools were lovely (if a little chilly!) but great to have the choice of the two pools, the natural pool being a little quieter. We also walked to the beach one day, it was good to be beside the ocean. We found the free hotel shuttle into the city centre to be invaluable, although a little hot inside the shuttle the journey doesn’t take long and taxis in the evening are very cheap. The staff were very friendly and attentive, particularly the assistant manager Rachid who assisted us at the pool most days with drinks, towels etc. We are very pleased to have chosen such a wonderful hotel for our honeymoon!!

After having been to many Sofitel's around the world, unfortunately, this one doesn't live up to the high brand equity Sofitel has. The hotel is a tad old and you'll be able to see that it hasn't been well-maintained. We're thankful to receive a complimentary upgrade to a golf suite as we were on our honeymoon but I wasn't impressed by the room a single bit. The room was indeed huge but it was a little bit too raw for my liking. Breakfast was pretty alright, nothing great. Point to note though is that this hotel is located quite a distance to the heart of Essaouira, so you'd either need to get a taxi or hop on the shuttle service which ends at 6 pm. Taxi drivers are pure scammers so please check your change before you jump off the cabs. Unfortunately, Essaouira wasn't too good of an experience for myself, so i'd probably not go back nor recommend this hotel.

I just love everything, the staff were very attentive to needs, i needed an adapter to charge my phone and they brought it right away. Hotel was ok. Staff at reception seem a bit stuck up and try to talk down to you when checking in. Found them a bit patronising. Complained there were not enough towels, which more were brought and complained that the shower drain was not draining. This didn’t get fixed straight away. Bath looked run down in room so didn’t feel comfortable using it. Tables in one of the restaurants were battered and broken. Food was ok but buffet was three star food not five star. But still at five star prices. Breakfast for myself and my husband was forty pounds for per morning. Never got an option to include breakfast in my room price. There wasn’t much to do at the hotel, and you feel a bit stuck there when it rains. They have a spa really expensive, would have played golf but this isn’t included either.

Lovely hotel but needs a little attention to room decor and cleanliness. Hotel and rooms are high spec but so many little issues eg. Some lights not working bath privavy blind broken, needed someone to fix bath and shower, shower flooded, no info about hotel in room, coffee not replaced (had to ask 5 times befire it was replaced). Overall pleased but i would expect a little more from a 5* hotel, it has huge potential and is a great position it is just lacking the last 5% effort to make it a great hotel.

I was surprised how old and dirty the hotel was. Staff were great and were doing their job. I was upgraded to a suite, that I refused to stay, due to mold smell. When I explained why, I was told that the whole city smells like that, which was not true. I asked for a regular room. The paint in the hotel is falling, the carpets are dirty, everything is dusty. The hotel grounds is beautiful. Overall I was very disappointed with Sofitel.

The scenery is just awesome, too bad the hotel is showing severe signs of lack of maintenance. Though the staff is nice it looked understaffed and simple requests took ages or were never fulfilled. I still think this is a fantastic place to stay just for the view from the room and the beautiful nature surrounding the location. It’s just not a 5 stars hotel in my opinion. You can’t call yourself like this and have your guests spend 25 mins to check out ?!!

Amazing pool!!
We really enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly and the pool was awesome. The facilities could be updated and the shuttle stops running at 630pm which is a little early, but those are minor things. Our room smelled like paint the first day following some renos but after we aired it out for a day it was better. Overall I'd recommend it.

Amazing place with idilic location
We love staying in Sofitel. The rooms are spacious enough, 2 large pools to enjoy, great food , attentive service. Close walk to the beach, you can rent bikes plenty of lanes to bike. Great solid WIFI.
