“Great Place - Bad Few Days”
This was the 3rd time I stayed here. The other 2 times I came, I had a very good and comfortable time in the hotel. I felt at home and enjoyed myself. Unfortunately, this 3rd time I went, it was not as great as before. I got in early (morning) from my flight and was given a room. I was very surprised by this (in a good way). However, I was in there for only an hour or so and the neighbours next to me were extremely noisy. They were yelling and banging on the walls and in general it was as if I was living with those people. I complained to the front desk and they moved me to another room. Fortunately, this room was much quieter. The unfortunate part though, was that the water in the bath tub and sink was flowing very slowly. It was as if I was having a bath and a shower. Since I was only staying there 2 days, I just accepted to put up with the slow flow. The front desk told me that I would have to wait till the weekday for the maintenance to arrive. That didn't make sense, since problems don't just happen on the weekday. In addition, the sink had a big crack in it. Finally, as I was relaxing the night before my flight home, I noticed that a few lady bugs had dropped into my cup of water. Now, before people think about not staying here, for the most part, this place is very good and I think I just had bad luck that day.
“great boutique hotel”
Hotel is comfortable and a pleasure. Rooms are very nice and excellent value for the price.
“Great Edmonton Boutique Hotel”
Hotel is very conveniently located in downtown Edmonton, just off Jasper Avenue. They offer a complimentary Breakfast in the morning. Service isn't as attentive as it could be and the hot food was potatoes and odd looking poached eggs. However there was plenty of fresh fruit, baked goods, cereals etc. Lobby is pretty, meeting space looks recently renovated and the Wildflower Restaurant attached is excellent!
“good value”
Only spent one night, but it's a great little hotel and fairly central. Only challenge was the parking. clerk said the lot behind the hotel was fine, ended up with a $75 parking ticket.
“Great hotel, great location for events, close to LRT etc.”
Rooms are great, location great if you need to travel via transit system, and great service. only issue was coffee maker did not work.
“decent hotel”
I enjoyed my stay in the hotel. However, dining in service was below the average.
“Decent Hotel Not Enough Parking”
It was a pretty good hotel but there is very limited parking in their lot and 2 nights we had to park on the street and the second night had the windows smashed in.
“Not impressed. Pay for what you get!!”
The hotel is in a poor location and parking sucks. The state of the hotel is poor, needs a lot of work. Not recommend when traveling with small kids.
“Great hotel going bad”
We have stayed at the Matrix several times and find that it is quickly slipping into the "bad hotel" category. During this stay, we found much hair in our bed sheets and when we called to ask for clean bedding, they sent a security guy up with clean sheets an hour after we called, then we had to wait again because he didn't bring clean pillow cases and had to make the bed ourselves. We found more hair in the second set of sheets. Also, the room was very hot. It didn't matter how far down the thermostat was set, it was about 28 degrees. Last but not least, the bathrooms have no fans! There is nothing worse than being in an already small room and someone needing to use the washroom with NO FAN! On a positive, the main lobby is clean and well decorated with friendly and (mostly) helpful staff and the complimentary breakfast is nice. Regrettfully, we have decided to boycott this hotel for a while which is too bad as its been one of our favourites.
“satisfied”
-beds really comfy -excellent buffet breakfast - nice shower/tub/toiletries/bathrobes -stain on a decorative pillow -cracked sink For the price we paid (sale on expedia website) it was a good value. The buffet breakfast really completed (made) the hotel stay.
