“Covenient Location”
I was trevelling through Edmonton, using the Red Arrow bus service. This hotel is literally around the corner from the downtown drop off. I didn't arrive until 11pm, the staff knew, my room was ready and it was clean, what more is there? The decor is slightly dated, but as far as I could see it was maintained well. The breakfast is a hot continental and was acceptable. It is located one block south of Jasper Aveue, downtown. I'd say there are better hotels in the areaa, but there are worse too, and for my journey, the Holiday Inn Ex[ress was exacyly what I wanted.
“good hotel but one or two problems.”
This hotel is a good solid hotel however I had two problems. #1 - I arrived late one night and they had given my room away. It was 1 am in the morning and I was shocked that this had happened since I had booked 4 weeks in advance. I know things come up but this was not the kind of service I would expect. Service Recovery was good however it still bothers me that I can't depend on this hotel. #2 - It offers an Express breakfast and a small cafe in the hotel however it would be nice to have a little something extra like an area with a convenience store.
“Good value for money”
This hotel was a good value for money, centrally located in downtown Edmonton. The one issue we had was with the a/c; it was an odd system to work and by the time we realized it wasn't working, the maintenance person had left for the day. They brought up a fan right away for us and that helped cool the room off for the night however I was surprised that this was even an issue that would not have been noticed before. Breakfast (included with the room) had a good selection of foods to accomodate most everyone's preference.
“Not too bad”
good location, room is small, noisy as window face to AC machines and breakfast is soso.
“very convenient location”
the holiday inn express is in a very convenient location, that makes it simple to get to my destinations easily. The added convenience of having a hot, serve yourself breakfast is a nice touch as well. There is lots of variety and it doesn't take long to get yourself fed and on your way.
“Comfort, Service, Value - Can't go Wrong!”
I have stayed here before and went back because of the excellent customer service...and am happy to report that it was still the same! Room was clean, breakfast is included, parking is very reasonable and as a Priority Club member, I even got wine and some yummy appetizers in the lounge one evening. Close to Jasper Ave and downtown. Go to the restaurant, Blue Plate Diner 1.5 blocks away. It is excellent comfort food!
“"Unexpected Hotel Expense"”
As mentioned above regarding travel experience.
“Excellent Downtown Edmonton Hotel!”
Went to Edmonton for a shopping trip with friends and needed a hotel that wasn't too expensive. This Holiday Inn did the trick! Rooms - Beds were extremely comfortable and room was tidy and well-kept during our stay. The room itself was big and we had plenty of room for our bags, clothing, etc. Room contained a fridge (which was a little noisy but nothing that interrupted our sleep), TV, coffee maker, etc. Walls are a little thin and we could hear noises in the hall but nothing that interrupted our sleep in any way. Pool - Used the pool in the evenings. Both times we went, it was just as a group of very noisy and messy children were leaving. Provided towels were used up and thrown everywhere, emergency aids were taken off the wall and used as pool toys, etc. The second night, staff came and restocked towels. Besides that, the pool area was well maintained. Breakfast - The included breakfast was delicious! Cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, toast, coffee/tea, juices, fruit salad, eggs, bacon/sausage. Very good and an enjoyable part of our mornings. Security - Stairwell and elevator could only be activated with a room key card, which left us feeling very safe and secure. Our car was parked in the lot beside our hotel each night (for a fee) and we had no problems. Downtown location felt very safe and secure. I would definitely stay at this hotel the next time I'm in Edmonton. Worth every penny!!
“Will go back”
Overall I was pleased with the hotel. Two blocks from the bus lines and subway, a covered mall downtown on the bus lines. The breaksfast buffet was average, the hot items were hot, the staff polite. Did not used the pool, but visit, very clean with plenty of towels and shower rooms
