"Lovely hotel in the heart of Leith"
We enjoyed our stay at the Mailmaison. Staff were so friendly and helpful, room fresh and spotless. We would definitely go back. There is plenty restaurants and bars nearby to choose from if you do not want to eat in the hotel.

"Great location"
Overall, the hotel was nice, and perfectly located for access to the royal mile. Our only issue with it was that our room was sweltering. Even with the window open, it was miserably hot. And there were a total of 2 outlets in the room, one of which didn't work. Makes it difficult for 2 people to get ready in the morning.

Great location. Very professional and helpful staff. The room was excellent and the breakfast was superb. Recommend visiting the palace and prebooking tickets for your visit to the castle. Restaurants to try are the whitchery (prebook week before) and the Dome.

"Not the best"
After paying over $585 per night for three nights in a very, very small room ( #330 ) we were then asked to pay $20 per day for wifi...........crazy. Breakfast was OK but the lady who signed us in was so patronizing she's lucky I was in a good mood. Likewise, in the Caley Bar on the Saturday night the bar tender ( arrogant ) and waiter because they were alone and seemed busy when there was only a dozen people in the bar kept on insisting we took a seat in the lounge when I replied my wife and I wanted to stay at the bar he delayed us longer. Then a Scottish gentlemen arrived he too was told to find a seat to which he replied I have one but its been 20 mins and I need a drink

"Very good value! Good location."
Room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. Very modern and up to date. Overall very satisfied with two exceptions ... Breakfast at the hotel was overpriced, and Internet service was free but poor. I would recommend.

"Good hotel near the center of Edinburgh"
My family and I stayed at the G&V for our three nights in Scotland. This hotel is fairly new and has been updated. The decor in places is a little funky/glam with bold colors like purple, pink and black but nothing that ever really put me off. Very nice helpful staff on check in and elsewhere. Our room was one of the bigger ones because we got a room with a sleeper sofa for my son. Even so the room was not overly large but what you would expect in the UK. One big plus we really liked was that the room had a mini fridge partially stocked with drinks and a few nibbles which was complimentary! I don't know if this is always the case, but we loved it so I would ask if you book a room. The shower in this bathroom was the best of three hotels I stayed in during my visit to the UK. I looked forward to it at the end of each day. The bed was also quite comfortable. Our stay included a free breakfast which gave you all the continental breakfast choices plus a few more choices with eggs and ham, salmon, etc.
