"Very comfortable hotel and great location!"
We really liked the location! It was away from the center of town which made it so much more relaxing! The bus stop right across the street in front of hotel. There were numerous bus lines available that took you to anywhere in the city w/very little confusion! (Plus the Scots really help you when you need it!) We really enjoyed the English breakfast! (Try the Black pudding! It tastes like a black bean veggie paddie!) The owner and his staff were very accommodating and nice!!

"Excellent location and good facilities."
Stayed 2 nights in November 2014. Easy stroll from Waverley Station; comfortable room looking east towards Carlton Hill; excellent breakfast choices; leisure facilities (pool, sauna etc) a little down at heel but all working well; good value. Great for buses and walking to Princes St and The Royal Mile. I am sure I will stay there again.

"Great location near train station, Old Town."
Lovely hotel on short, quiet street just off Royal Mile. Beautiful room with kitchenette -- microwave, fridge, electric kettle, stocked with bottled water, shortbread, tea bags, etc. L'Occitane toiletries in bathroom. Friendly staff at front desk. Couldn't ask for more -- perfect! Oh, and the view - enormous floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city -- so beautiful.

"Ticks all the right boxes"
I've been to Edinburgh on numerous occasions but The Scotsman is a new one for me. The site of the former print offices of the newspaper of the same name it is on nine floors with the entrance on North Bridge on the fourth, a spa in the former printing rooms on the lower floors (including a stainless steel pool) and even a penthouse suite. The marble and oak paneling has been retained where possible especially in reception and the stunning breakfast room/restaurant. The location is perfect, being 5 minutes from either the Royal Mile or Princes Street without the tourist hustle and bustle of actually being on either. Waverley station is right outside the ground floor exit albeit four floors below Reception. We were greeted on arrival by the Concierge who took care of our bags and directed us to check in with a welcoming yet businesslike informality that immediately put us at ease. Indeed all of the staff we encountered had the same easy charm. As we were heading off, the concierge offered some recommendations for restaurants and even offered to book tickets online for the Castle so that we could avoid any queues. Our standard room was of a reasonable size, although it had a view of rooftops (which is not as awful as it might be in other cities), it was very well laid out with good storage and a decent sized bathroom (including a bath and two showers). There was even a hatch which let into a cupboard so that shoes could be returned cleaned or breakfast/newspapers delivered

"Fantastic location"
The hotel is in a fantastic location opposite a beautiful park but only 10 minutes walk to the train station. Small and friendly but with an interesting history that makes the place unique.

"Great location and very comfortable"
Great location on the Royal Mile. Lovely old building with character. Steps up to apartment on the 3rd floor were very steep, not a problem for us but could be for some. Got the Airport Bus for £7 return, 30 min trf and apartment was a 5 min walk away. Very comfortable and warm accomodation with a fantastic view from our apartment (no.6). Lovely to have breakfast gazing out over the city. Apartment was a good size and plenty of room for our party of four adults. Staff were excellent, nothing too much trouble. Great apartment at a great price. Would stay here again.

"Wonderful period property"
I stayed with my mum and sister for a girls weekend in the City. A great location 5 mins walk to the bottom of princes street. A gorgeous period property which had wonderful design and style. Very comfortable and the owner was so helpful and accomodating. Lovely touches like providing milk for tea and washing up liquid in the kitchen. Under floor heating in the bathroom was brilliant. Would definately stay there again. We stayed in the Eton suite.
