“Edinburgh out of season”

Hotel is in a good posiion. The hotel was undergoing some refurbishment whilst we were there so there was some noise, this was in November so it is not unexpected for work to be carried out at that time of year. Hotel was warm and comfortable. Only down side is no parking, the hotel has a deal with a nearby car park but it is still £12/day. Hotel is located about 5 mins walk from grassmarket and 10 mins from the top of Princess street, good choice of bars and restaraunts along Lothian road nearby.

“Fine hotel”

Everything was perfect: lovely room , nice reception staff. The only think was that the location was a bit out of the way.

“Pretty good hotel”

Staying in this hotel was a pleasant experience. It is conveniently located, it's only a short walk to get to Grassmarket. The room was nice, spacious and clean. I was satisfied with the assistance and service provided by the staff of the hotel, they were always nice and willing to help. The breakfast was included and it was great, a great variety of food to choose from. The only problem I had was the bed. I was traveling with someone so I booked a room with twin beds. For some reason they gave us a room with a single queen size bed. When we told them about the issue brought another bed to the room, but it was really small and uncomfortable to sleep on.

“Fix the beds and we're all good”

In general, good hotel in a good location. However, for 2 days in a row our double bed was made with no top sheet and a duvet that didn't cover the entire mattress, making sleeping covered basically impossible for 2 people. Also, the shower curtain of our non-smoking room was so completely permeated with smoke that every time the shower went on, the entire room stank of cigarettes. I still think that the hotel is a good one, especially since these two things are such easy fixes (top sheet + swap out shower curtains), and with all that done it would actually be quite a fantastic place to stay.

“nice and quite handy for everything”

we booked a couple of double rooms - (try not to get room 104 as it's below street level and so the view is a brick wall looking up at some pavement.) limited parking at the hotel, street parking £2.00 an hour. rooms very nice and comfy, bar only small but we didn't try the restaurant ( too much choice elsewhere)

“NICE HOTEL WITH A GOOD LOCATION”

THE HOTEL WAS COMFORTABLE AND LOCATED CLOSE TO THE CENTER IF EDINBURGH. IT HAD A SMALL BUT NICE RESTAURANT AND BAR. THE FOOD WAS FINE BUT WITH A LIMITED SELECTION. IT WAS A GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY. i WOULD STAY AGAIN.

“Really enjoyed visit to Edinburgh”

Staff were friendly, breakfast was good but several things were disappointing. Our room was not always cleaned as well as it could be. There was litter under the beds from the previous occupants and on one occasion the bathroom bin was added to the bedroom bin and left there. The sheet on my bed was marked and felt grubby and the valance on both beds were not put on properly so I had to adjust. The entrance was very dark, dreary and unwelcoming. Should think about brightening this up rather than the dark purple and dark beige that met us on arrival.

“It's okay, but...”

The public areas are dull, tired and smell stale. Our room was newly decorated but dull. Breakfast was hit and miss. Short staffed so the continental buffet was overlooked and not quickly replenished even when quiet. Dishes and cutlery in short suppl, and often dirty. Staff could not cope with a full room of guests. Cooked food was okay, but not convincing to eat in the evening there. Reception is tatty as are public toilets. Overall disappointing. Parking is a nightmare. Nice staff though. Not worthy of spending our hard earned cash to stay again. Other 3 star best westerns perform better.

“It was a nice stay”

We enjoyed our stay for the most part. Soap was the only toiletry supplied. You had to ask for the iron and ironing board to be brought to your room. There was no safe in our room which was a major picking point for me, but overall I would stay there again. The desk staff was very helpful in arranging tours and getting us the info we needed.
