“Really comfortable and friendly hotel”
Myself, my wife and daughter spent 3 nights at Channings for a half-term city break in Edinburgh. It proved an ideal base with helpful and friendly staff. Not quite as central (10-15 mins walk or short bus ride) as some of the bigger hotels but made up for it in other ways. We were impressed to arrive in the morning, expecting to just leave our luggage until later, and finding our rooms were ready for us.
“I always feel special at the Channings.”
Not being at the center of Edinburgh activity is outweighed by its beautiful, quiet location. I always enjoyed the 10 minute walk to New Town, 15 minutes to Princess Street. The Channings has an excellent breakfast menu and a beautiful bar and restaurant.
“Peaceful stay”
The hotel might look like its a little way out from the main touristy areas on a map but its located in a very quite neighbourhood and well worth staying at. We walked into Princes Street and it only took about 15 minutes but was a nice easy paced walk. A taxi back from the Old Town area is less than a tenner if you need it anyway. Staff at the hotel and the hotel itself were excellent. Well worth considering if you're going to Edinburgh - I would look to stay here again the next time I am back for sure.
“Great hotel!”
The Channings is wonderful, a short walk from city center, (10 mins) and away from noise. The staff is wonderful too, always trying to help improve your stay. if I go back to have friends go to Scotland, no doubt I'd stay at this place!
“Splendid stay in Edinburgh”
The Channings is hidden away in the quiet backstreets of New Town, close to the Dean Bridge and within easy walking distance of Prince's Street. We found the staff to be extremely friendly, going out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We recommend it most highly to anyone taking a trip to Edinburgh and greatly look forward to returning there ourselves!
“excelent hotel”
in excelant position. had all we needed.
“very impressed”
Fantastic hotel very friendly and welcolming short walk from city centre. 5 star luxury for little more than the price of travelodge would definately recommend and will stay there again. delicious breakfast in hotel conservatory cooked to order not a hot buffet. Room spacious and luxurious. Well worth a visit.
“Edinburgh's best kept secret”
Had a wonderful stay at Channings and we will recommend this hotel to all.
“We would certainly return to this wonderfully friendly Hotel again”
We considered this to be superb hotel. Positioned 15mins from the city centre.Try the walk along the Waters of Leith Path to the Museum of modern art
“Private little nook!”
Great hotel. Very intimate if you are looking for a getaway with your partner. Everyone in the hotel was friendly. Staff was very approachable and the hotel is full of regulars who are willing to give you advice on where to travel in the area. Only negative was the water in the shower. It took a few minutes to fiddle with it because it would either go extremely hot or extremely cold.
